GPS watch

Folks, I wanted to urgently purchase a GPS watch where I can keep track of my runs, cals, lap splits, etc, etc… Looked at Garmin Forerunner and Nike Triax online, but not very comfortable buying it online. Would love to see if before buying it. Don’t need something over $200! Can you recommend me some stores in New York / New Jersey are where I can find my watch. Any other suggestion that you wear for your runs?

I have a Polar heart rate monitor RS800 and it has all of that. You can download the data to your lap. You don’t need GPS for that; RS800 has a chip to be attached to one shoe. It works wonders, but it’s over $200.

I have a Garmin Forerunner without the chest strap. That thing is really heavy. It’s not as bad as a car GPS, but it definitely distracts me on runs. Other than that, accuracy, easy to use etc. are pretty good. I think the Nike Triax watch uses your cadence to calculate distance, not GPS. Correct me if I’m wrong. In any case, you should probably try it on before buying.

anyone else use the runkeeper app on the iphone? any other similar apps out there? obviously doesn’t have the heart monitor feature, but it has everything else.

i have the garmin forerunner 305 w/ heartstrap and love the funtionality. I can wear it on my wrist and also bought the cadence kit to mount it on my bike. like i said, i love the thing. i can use it in the gym, on runs, and on my bike and it tracks everything (speed, pace, heart rate, distance, grade, laps, etc.). you can also make virtual workouts to hit goals or compete with your past performances. i got it last year during a christmas sale for

I had an app on my phone as well (don’t think it was runkeeper). Worked pretty good.

I am almost finalized on buying this one - https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=11039, unless somebosy speaks up and explains to me why it’s not a good idea to do so! Any better recommendation than this ‘Garmin Forerunner 405’? Has anyone of you used this one? My friend just ran the Berlin maratho last weekend and timed it using this watch, he say’s it’s a ‘little’ inaccurate, but perfect otherwise.

Anyone have a solution for getting data from a Polar watch to your laptop without the Flowlink?

No; I think it’s time for them to include a USB port.
