So, apparently a handful of HOF voters thought he was not good enough for Cooperstown and he didn’t get a 100% vote.

The HOF vote is a joke. A bunch of writers who never played the game trying to play morality police.
Maddux was always my favorite pitcher. He only walked a batter when he wanted to.
I grew up on the 1990s braves. Maddux, smoltz, chip, and my n andrew jones. Thats when i actually enjoyed watching bball. Maddux not making the HOF is a complete joke, he was the epitome of control.
Someone should go take a dump on all the writers that didn’t vote Maddux into the HOF
he made the HOF just didnt get unnanimous vote
ahhh, that makes a little more sense. When is john rocker going to be inducted?
When is the all-time leader in hits getting indicted?
I mean, inducted?
4 straight Cy Youngs, pretty much got the gold glove every year he pitched, and he was actually a pretty good hitter. The guy was awesome.
Yep…Smoltz was awesome as a starter and as a reliever. I actually thought he was a meaningfully better pitcher than Glavine. He likely would have made it to the 300 win mark if he didn’t have the injuries and hadn’t spent several years as a closer, but that he was amazing as a closer just adds more credence to his qualifications in my opinion
On the topic of good pitchers, I was surprised that Mike Mussina did not get more votes for the HoF
The writers are a bunch of egotistical old men. They have pretty much said no to anyone during the steroid era. I like what Dan Lebatard did with his vote.
Smoltz should get in easily, the guy dominated for a long time. Mussina’s stats are better than you think, too. Far better than the whiner Jack Morris (who rightfully did not get in).
The best Maddux story I heard this week was that he had 999 career walks with a few starts left before the end of the season. He told a teammate “No way I’m walking 1,000 guys” and did not walk a guy for the rest of the year. Ridiculous!
I am boycotting Cooperstown until Barry Bonds, the greatest hitter I have ever seen, is inducted.
Looking at the numbers, it’s sad to see Tim Raines lost a few votes. He was the greatest lead off hitter of his time not named Rickey Henderson.
Smoltz is way more baller, he beat Annika Sorenstam at a round of golf
