Haas F1

Haas CNC – a company I know well from my warhead design/manufacturing days (they make CNC (computerized numerical control) milling machines and lathes) – has been involved in NASCAR for several years, but this is their first year having a Formula 1 team.

They’ve been pretty impressive: they scored points (finished in the top 10) in their first race ever (Australian Grand Prix, two weeks ago), and are going strong in their second.

Their car is known as the VF 16: _ v _ery _ f _irst, 2016.

They have a sense of humor.

I’m happy for their success and especially happy for Romain Grosjean. Too bad F1 is unwatchable now.

So you’re saying this is not about avacados.

I am.

I’m bummed too. I was prepared to discuss the delicious bacon, tomato, and avocado sandwich I had for lunch on Saturday.

Is there any relation to the old Newman/Haas Indy Car team?

Yes: it’s Carl Haas.
