Being proactive as well. Got on finasteride a year ago, basically keeping what I have…shoulda started it sooner though.
I suggest getting HST with Dr. Gho Reg hair transplants are shit
Yep, same deal Plantir, Finestaride plus rogain on 4 month subscription (saves alot of money). Was told even though it’s not for male pattern baldness specifically it still helps (by doctor). Anyhow, wish I’d started earlier, pretty sure in four years or so I’ll have to go shaved head, but such is life.
^Would recommend looking into this Frankie. Or at least the Rogain if you’ve still got a full head going on but want to get an early start.
Cloning in a petri dish doesn’t exist. HST is.the closest you’ll get.
I read about some of the side effects of Finasteride and thought it wasn’t worth it. For me its cost> benefit.
According to every empirical study, only about 4-5% get side effects. But your call obviously.
how much is all of this hairloss prevention setting you back? i saw some of this stuff just now at a pharmacy and the package said 60 bucks, i quickly ran away…
Guys, don’t be insecure about it. Just own it, we’re getting old. Soon your dicks won’t work either. Well, not without some blue pills. Fortunately, by now you are on your way to having kids. You’re biological reproduction purpose is nearly complete. You can die whenever you feel like it. What you do the rest of your life is really moot.
Bald Bill: Doctor, can you give me something for my baldness?
Doctor: How about a few pounds of pig manure?
Bald Bill: Will that cure my baldness?
Doctor: No, but with that on your head no one will come near enough to notice.
ha ha
Can bald people get hairline fractures? Just wondering…
I think it’s funny how people justify it by saying hair transplants are just like exercise…maybe for your wallet.
Shaving your head makes you appear 13% stronger… or something.
I don’t think there is any reason to “justify” a hair transplant. If you feel you would benefit from it, and you can afford it, then go for it, can’t imagine what there is to feel guilty about.
palantir, are you going bald?
Yep it’s started - I have a bad family history of it too…think it accelerated during Level 2 studying.
My hair started thinning last year, although my father at 66 has a full head of hair (afrow style).
These were my proactive steps:
-
Stopped putting gel
-
Did not wet my hair everyday
-
Only used shampoo 1-2 times a week instead of 5-6 times a week
-
Didn’t rub my head when I dried my hair with a towel
I’m back on track, back in black now.
I think it has to do with androgens and stuff, not so much if you wash your hair. What causes hairloss is inflammation. Your immune system attacks your hair and it falls out. Notice the “itch” preceding the fall.
I always have the itch, that’s because my scalp is so dry.
it’s possible, but it may be inflammation to some extent. It’s likely inflammation if the itching is leading to hairloss.
Clobetasol propionate foam works well for me. I use it when the itch gets going. I had always identified it as a dry scap/dandruff thing, which to some extent it was, but was also, in the end, inflammation and MPB.
the foam isn’t actually for hairloss. I was subscribed it for the itch. But I think no itch, no hair loss. The foam is a steroidal anti inflammitory thing. It’s like a foam ibeprofen or some shit. I don’t think you’re suppose to use it for longer then a couple weeks at a time. Serious stuff.
Does this topical hair application stuff make your hair nappy? My brother is older and has experienced some bad hair loss. My dad is bald. I’m seeing some hair fall out but it is really not too bad (yet).
MoreMoneyPleas - Itch alone can be caused by other things. When you lose hair, sebaceous glands get enlarged, this creates a fertile environment for fungi, which needs to be dealt with. One thing you should definitely look into is an antifungal like Loprox. I used Clobetasol Proprionate earlier this year, it reduced itching, but never totally supressed it the way Loprox did. You should definitely try it.
AnaltiCalteEquity - If you truly have MPB and you can note thinning or recission or note hairs getting smaller or thinner, you should get on preventative medications like finasteride. They are good at holding hair that you have, but will not grow new ones.
