Cloning? Is it a clinical trial or do you have to pay for it? Sounds very uh speculative.
You can enroll in free clinical trials, but they’ll try two different methods. Since mine will be at the hairline they said it’d be best to go for the one leading method. They’ll first try a few hundred (not noticeable) just to see how it takes since it varies by individual. Several months after if results are good we go for broke. You can read more about acell hair cloning on the interwebs. It’s also worth reading about acell as a product, it’s pretty cool. They’ve used it to regrow severed fingertips, etc.
How expensive was it?
It’s pretty pricey because it’s new and time intensive. I’m hearing like $6 a graft plus materials (mostly Acell). Advantages are no scarring, plus, you’re not moving hair around so much as actually creating more. I don’t necessarily have a ton of hair going on, so I was told a hair transplant wouldn’t be an option (that’s when you know it’s bad) or I would have just done that.
Interesting, judging by my family history, I may be looking into one of these sooner than later. If it is an option you should also check out body hair/facial hair transplants.
Cloning seems to be the way hair loss will be treated in the future…I just didn’t know they were there yet…wow. Best of luck Black Swan.
BS - any updates on the procedure?
Nah, I held off for September. Talked to the Dr. and apparently it’s still super experimental without a very clear picture of expected results. So him and a bunch of other practices are running parallel tests since January and expected to meet and discuss at some synopsium in Sept.
Will update you all then
looking forward to hearing about it… It’s been over 5 months since I had my hair restoration. had almost 2700 grafts. Results are positive. Expectations have to be right. Had my 4 month follow-up recently and doc said I’m about 30% there in terms of potential hair growth.
If you don’t mind, can you post pictures? Have you kept a periodic journal so you can chart your progress? Did you go the FUE route?
Is it true wetting your hair everyday in the shower can cause hairloss? I have no history whatsoever of baldness in my family, yet I feel like I am thinning out at the front. I only use shampoo 3 days a week now (head and shoulders) but wet my hair everyday. Must be that or the gel I use.
I’m sort of interested to see the pictures of before/after if you’re willing to share. I’m with you L3, BS. If it is something that is impairing you then there is no reason to not fix it. Why is it socially acceptable to goto the gym and be a “juicehead gorilla” (snooki voice), but you can’t change other things. I’m not saying you should get calf implants (johnny drama) but there are reasonable procedures. Who deemed nose jobs on 13 year olds were acceptable but hair procedures for men weren’t?
ive noticed that the left side of my pubes is thinning a bit …Im worried, are there any safe options, dont want to be bald down there
ha

Just curious how does it work ? Where did they take the hair from ??
Black Swan, So did you finally participate in the hair cloning procedure?
black swan is bald? so who da heck is that girly looking person in his pic?
That’s me, not actually bald. Just being proactive.
i was worried a few months back when a ton of hair was falling out (still is) but I was told it was just a cycle…perhaps I should be proactive too…a guy like me can’t go bald…i need at least a few million to regain any sort of confidence…
