Back in the home country one night me and some friends had to camp in an abandoned village for a night.Let me tell you although we were armed with hunting rifles it was one of the weirdest/creepiest nights ever. This however gave me an adrenaline rush I have never experienced before,is there places like that in the US ?Although no where near US I would love to see chernobyl or some other russian ghost town up close.
Yeah I went to Ghost Town, NC (Maggie Valley)
There’s a lot of places like that tucked away. I went to the Six Flags amusement park in New Orleans after it was abandoned to sneak around and check it out once. It’s amazing but not worth the risk if you’re a non-US citizen, they patrol it pretty regularly. The locals will rip through on ATV’s. There’s a ton of completely abandoned towns through the US, some of which are legal to go to, particularly out west.
The abandoned towns are interesting, but the really creepy stuff is when you stumble into a town with a population of 6. People are all sorts of weird. Some strange inbreeding going on up in there.
sounds cool, it’ll be like Red Dead Redemption
I’m not that far from Centralia, PA, but have never managed to visit. It’s an old mining town that was evacuated (mostly) in the 1960’s after the coal mines under the town caught fire. The coal is still burning and smoke rises out of cracks in the ground in a lot of places. I believe there are still 6-10 residents living there who refuse to move.
That’s really interesting. I didn’t realize the coal is still burning after 50 years.
Maybe that’s the cause of Global Warming right there???
I once paid a few bucks to do a spooky tour in a suppossed haunted part of FL while on vacation. It was the epitome of a tourist trap!
^You got taken. All of FL is creepy. No need to pay extra.
^^^ I guess it’s a lot of coal and there isn’t a lot of oxygen to feed it so it kind of smoulders.
Really crazy stuff. Look up Door to Hell on wikipedia as well.
Respect. It’s dark, damp, and crawling with filthy creatures. Much like the basement of the US.
