First off this is not a blazer, blazers usually have obvious cuff buttons and a material pattern that is distinct and unmatched to a pair of pants. It’s also not a sports jacket as both blazers and sports jackets are meant to be worn with different coloured pants. This clearly is meant for a matching pair of pants making it a suit. Third, don’t wear suit jackets without the matching pants, it’s weird and doesn’t look right. Fourth you should be able to take it to any good tailor to fix for you. Having done this before I would caution that you run high risk of the jacket not fitting you properly, and taking it in and fixing the cuffs will cost more than the jacket is worth. Since you’re on ebay looking for “quality” I’m guessing you have a budget and you may end up spending more than you want getting a jacket that doesn’t fit nor look right.
Finally, don’t be an igor, ohai don’t fuck with Boss.
Damn, that’s legit! I wouldn’t ever wear a suit jacket without matching pants. My initial excitement was due to the fact that I believed it to be a full suit for $199.00. I’m just going to hit up this chick I know that works at nordstrom rack.
You can get really cheap (and unused!) women’s lingerie on eBay. You can find random packs of five items in a bundle for $10. Obviously they’re made poorly so they’re for one-time use only, but they’re fun to tear off your lady friend. Or boyfriend if that’s your thing.
by stuff like that I meant Hugo Boss etc. I’m all for eBay in terms of the cheaper disposable items. Downside is having to wait for a month for the items to ship from Hong Kong/China so I guess we’ll just have to treat the Victoria’s Secret stuff gently until then
eBay is great for stuff like that Hugo Boss suit. Usually, it’s surplus stock from some other country though, or there is some other reason why they cant sell it in a store. I don’t think Japan has a version of Marshall’s or another surplus store for department store goods. So make sure you know what it is before buying. The other thing eBay is good for is Tumi bags, because it seems like normal stores have rules about not marking down from MSRP (probably to preserve brand value). But they can’t stop random eBay guys from charging whatever it takes to clear stock.
I messaged the seller and the coat has already been tailored and the break in the pants has already been cut. It was a disaster waiting to happen. You’re just kidding though… I think.
Hugo just sent me an email with the exact same suit on sale for $595.00 - so I’m just going to go that route.
No, I was not kidding. Some of those deals on eBay are ok. In this case, it was good that you checked on the item, as there seemed to have been some issue. Whether the potential savings are worth the time to do due diligence… maybe or maybe not.
With regards to the Tumi stuff, the best way is to identify the model you want, for instance Alpha 2 Slim Briefcase or whatever. Then set up a search notification so you can buy it when a deal comes up. Otherwise, search for the item and sort by Time Ending first. Either way, you will probably end up paying around the average auction price, which is usually below MSRP. It is hard to track individual sellers, since stock tends to be inconsistent.
I like eBay for Tumi, as all the units of the same model are the same. So unlike the Hugo Boss suit, whose value is hard to determine, you know exactly the MSRP for a Tumi item, and you can even see the last few traded prices on eBay for identical products. There are also a lot of “like new” Tumi bags, since a lot of people buy Tumi products for status, then hardly use them afterwards.
It obviously takes some time to shop on eBay like this, but I don’t mind, since it is like a hobby for me. In my spare time, I like to look at prices for stuff like Tumi bags, houses, cars, watches, or even investment products, but I rarely actually buy anything.
What opportunity cost? I don’t make more money by working more. That would be great, but I can’t use force of will to make the stock market go up. I guess I do spend a lot of time doing investment research, but so far, nothing looks as good as just buying index and leveraging, which itself is not a time consuming activity.
