Is anyone changing their internet practices as a result of Heart Bleed? Curious how AFers view online security
Hmm. I suppose most of us are complacent about internet security. We assume that nothing will happen until it does. I don’t really take steps like changing my passwords whenever some hack is announced. I don’t care if someone hacks my Facebook account. The only online accounts I care about are related to finances and websites that store my credit card information, like Amazon. I do check credit card payments quite diligently, in case of fraudulent charges, and also because it’s good to keep track of spending in general.
The other day, my coworkers credit card was used to by sneakers on Nike.com, so I guess it does happen. The issue got resolved quickly though, as credit card companies are apparently quite good at catching stuff like this. There are whole divisions dedicated to finding fraud all day.
