Held to Maturity - Impairment? (GAAP vs. IFRS)

According to CFAI Mock… “Impairment of a held-to-maturity investment is recognized in net income under both U.S. GAAP and IFRS, but only IFRS allows the subsequent reversal of an impairment loss.” Having both CFAI and schweser in front of me. CFAI states that for HTM, can be reversed directly or though allowance account. I can’t see anywhere that states under US GAAP that HTM can’t be reversed after impairment. Any ideas? Thanks.

Yeah I think in that same chapter, the CFAI text says that HTM impairments cannot be reversed under GAAP. I as close to 100% positive as one can be.

Thanks reggie!
