Standalone IB will be history. Commercial banks, PEs, and others will take over their pieces of work and specialize in different fields. History repeats itself - Kidder Peabody and Solomon Brothers were like the Goldman of the 70s and the 80s. Now new kids on the block never even heard of these names.
