Hiring Activity

I originally thought a lot of hiring would be from asia… however it seems that hiring has been in UK-London or even Paris far more than Asia or US/Canada… at least for the entry levels. Is this correct, or am I just not seeing the full spectrum of job postings?

Paris? Not really. Simply because far fewer people were laid off in the past year or so to begin with. Hirings in London indeed seem to be picking up though.

Hiring in the U.S. Is picking up slightly as well. it’s still tough for the unemployed to get jobs, but there is definitely some movement in the financial sector. I don’t know how many new jobs are being created, but there has definitely been attrition in the last couple weeks with January bonuses being paid out. Also, in speaking with current MBA students, hiring is definitely up versus one year ago. I think that now’s a good time to be speaking with headhunters, notwithstanding the overall challenging economy.

I’m noticing a pick-up of activity too. I think a lot of firms are over their shell-shock of one year ago and are now on a new budget cycle that allows for some hiring. Hope that translates into more opportunities. A substantial down leg in the markets would seriously bum that out, though.

I have definitely noticed an uptick in UK hiring.
