Historic Mortgage Rates

All: (1) Does anyone know of a reliable source that can provide a history of conforming residential mortgage rates for 15-year & 30-year mortgages? Haven’t had much luck with Bloomberg… (2)I also need to know the % of ARMs that use LIBOR as its benchmark and what some of the other benchmarks are for ARMs. Thanks in advance, dea

thanks B8! Also, I just discoverred the BB HSST function uses these same Freddie Mac rates starting in 1972. Anyone have any idea wha % of ARMs are tied to LIBOR? dea

Why dont you call FHLMC or FNMA, or the Mortgage Bankers Association?

However, until recently this percentage was really low. It was certainly about 0 until sometime in the 1990’s and was still pretty low through the '90’s.

Check HMDA data, they may have it: http://www.ffiec.gov/hmdaadwebreport/nataggwelcome.aspx

Some of the ARMs are also tied to the Treasuries - like a 5/1 ARM I was looking at was tied to the 3 year Treasury, I was told.

Try Mortgage Bankers Association and Federal Housing Finance Board. Also this provides most of your Arm Index’s, COFI, LIBOR, CMT, etc… http://www.mortgage-x.com/general/mortgage_indexes.asp
