How are we all doing on practice exams?

80% on the CFAI sample exam, high 60’s / low 70’s on book 6 1 pm/am failed FSA on both of them definitely my weakest area (chiefly ss9)

Score As You Go: 70.00% (84/120) I’m getting there. 120 QBank, Intermediate/Advance questions only.

I just did the morning session of exam 1 in Book 6 of Sheweser notes. out of 120, I made 38 mistakes. However I used 18 more minutes to finish If I exclude the problems I did in the last 18 minutes, I made 31 mistakes and didn’t do anything on the last 17 problems. Together I would lose 48 points, that means my score is 60% (including some problems I guessed correct, not really calculated correct). only 60% correct, I’m panic now. There’re only 17 days to go.

Ethics, 60 Questions, 75% I hate ethics.

Another update: I was so miffed from my score on the last ethics test that I retook another 60 question exam on Ethics. Scored 85%. Still hate ethics.

Total Time: 01:30:41 Questions: 115 Points Possible: 120 Points Correct: 97 Score: 81% Scored lowest on Quant, which is my strongpoint. After so much of my life over the past half a year, it seems like most of the material is finally coming together. Obviously way too much to try to memorize, just understand the concepts and use logic to find the answer on many of the Q’s. I have noticed through various exams with Schweser and the CFA practice exam that the most tricky thing is the wording of the question. Many times after getting a Q wrong, I know the answer and misread 1 or 2 words in the question. Through repetition, I am getting better at understanding the question better and know what they are looking for on the answer.

Book 7 Morning Exam 2 - 51%! I’m prepared to accept a fail on the 7th! WTF am I doing wrong? I read all the material, practiced 50% of Qbank LOS/Review/Test Prep, and now I’m focusing on the book exams. What is the get best way to chirp up one’s score on practice exams?

Fixed Income, 120 Q, easy medium hard (session 15-16)…92% KJH, if I were you, focus in on the CFA sample exams. I’m not aware of your study regimen, but I can’t seem to connect the dots if you’ve done your readings. Did you read through the books only once? That may be the problem. Comprehension overrides repetition. If you’re bombing practice exams, go back and review the concepts. Don’t just keep doing more practice tests. Next up for me is another 120Q exam on Derivatives/Alternative investments. Afterwards, I will be taking a CFA practice exam and mock test, plus a couple more Qbank exams on the full curriculum.

hey G, FSA is by far the weakest subject. So I’m going through the book one LOS at at time with the Qbank Browse Question feature. I think I have shot on the 7th. Most areas are high 60s, some above 70, but FSA was in the 20s on the CFAI Practice Exam!

Yeah, don’t skimp on FSA. It’s almost all-or-none with that section. Even after my exam scores on that FSA, I’m still looking to revisiting that subject area (namely the readings by Fried, Sondhi, and White, and the IFRS framework–I’m good on the other areas, though).

Derivatives/Alternative Investments, 120Q…85% I made some stupid mistakes on some of the questions I got wrong, like using LIBOR on settlement date rather than the beginning of the period to calculate the floating rate payment. Thus far, answering 1,260 questions in Qbank, 1,102 correct, average 87.4%. Now I’m going to start doing exams covering all subjects. I expect to take the CFA free sample exam on Thursday, and a mock exam this weekend. Keep crunching away gang. Try not to panic. In fact, get away from the forum for a few days and just use your own resources to study and test your knowledge.

just completed my first (and last) book 7 exam. it’s pretty hard. i took 3 hrs 45 min and got 72%. i did well on all sections (above 70) except for FSA which I got 48% on! needless to say, i won’t be doing any more of those exams.

I keep hearing a lot about these book 7 exams. I take it that they’re really hard and pretty much overkill for the real thing. Are there any major differences between Schweser’s print exams and Qbank?

From my experience, the Q bank questions are more direct and to the point. They quiz your actual knowledge of the material. The Schweser print exams are trying to make you apply your knowledge 1 step further and apply to different situations. I think that if you can do well on the print exams that you have a much better understanding on how to apply the material. I have found it to be a good strategy to start with the Q bank until I am doing very well there, then work my way through the print exams. All depends on what kind of questions the actual CFA exam will have, if they are just testing your knowledge of the material or want you to apply that knowlege to solving a little more difficult problems.

Is it too late to order the book 7 exam do schw provide them online

I don’t think they offer them online, but you can see if they will rush mail them to you. May be an option if you really want to use them.

Are they alot more difficult than the qbank cause I noticed i got alot the questions on qbank right but when I took a practice CFA exam, i noticed it was a lot harder

Blimey. I haven’t even finished reviewing the materials. I’m in trouble I think :~

I guess what matters is if it’s even relevant. Yeah, you can probably bang your head with calculating the after-tax cash flows on a real estate investment and finding the NPV, or hammer away on your calculator figuring out Kurtosis, but do the exam writers really want you to do that? I doubt it. Otherwise, they’d have to make the test longer than 6 hours.

72% on a Schweser Q Bank Exam Easy/Med/Hard. I can do this!
