How can this not be a pass but Band 10?

Just want your opinion without rubbing anybody wrong. Have a look at the matrix :

your essays scores are probably toward 0 or 1 in the set.

Yah man, it seems AM exams are, on average, higher than most years. Maybe this year had a high MPS?

That’s tough, your AM really isn’t that bad compared to others I’ve seen. Possible 0 credit on a few <=50s?

Get it next year!

Similar experience last year (was Band 10) and was very weak in the AM. I whiffed the Individual PM stuff last year, but nailed it this year.

http://www.300hours.com/level-iii-results-2016.html#.V6n5rJgrJhF ^ Both these links have some scoring calculation methods for reference.

This is just my opinion, but I think the CFA Institute may place more weight on Individual PM and Behavioral questions (especially in the AM). Reason being this material has some of the least overlap from Level 1 and Level 2 material.

And yes, it really stinks to fail band 10, but keep in mind a very small positive delta next year and you’re certain to pass!

I have seen a few passed with worse AM scores. Granted that was with the skin of their teeth. Wondering what the MPS might have been and how far off it was for me?

Guess anyone?

Uh! yes 1 box alright. No option like “not eligible…”

Failing ethics is probably a deal breaker when your mps is so close to the pass/nopass line.

I feel your pain, bro. Definitely did worse than I expected on the AM, but still surprised that I didn’t pass based on strong PM. Here’s my band 10 matrix-

Turth be told, I am not diappointed so much with the fail result as much I am with the AM score. I left 10 points on the Individual IPS but was pretty sure about the rest of the sections, that I wrote. Counted on a few partial credits on the calculation part as well. Honestly, my expectations was at least 4 sections >70, 4 (51-70) and 2 sections<50.

AM is a bitch I have to make of

Really very surprised at this matrix not being a pass. I had 5 below 50, 2 between, and rest above 70 in AM. and 6 above 70 in PM and rest in middle and was pass. I feel for this person.

Talking about gottabecfa

I agree, it seems the PM played a huge role in your results. Don’t give up, one year will pass by quickly and you can do it next year!!

@ABAL and Gottabecfa,

Feel for you guys.Damn close.

Please keep at it.

You will definitely make it next year,i believe

I must have just skated by with this passing score… 1 Portfolio Management - Institutional 20 * - - 2 Fixed Income Investments 22 * - - 3 Equity Investments 19 - * - 4 Portfolio Management - Asset Allocation 13 - * - 5 Portfolio Management - Monitor&Rebalance 13 * - - 6 Portfolio Management - Individual 22 - - * 7 Portfolio Management - Individual 17 - - * 8 Portfolio Management - Risk Management 20 - * - 9 Economics 18 * - - 10 Portfolio Management - Indiv/Behavioral 16 - * - - Alternative Investments 18 - - * - Economics 18 - - * - Ethical & Professional Standards 36 - * - - Fixed Income Investments 18 - * - - Portfolio Management - Asset Allocation 18 - * - - Portfolio Management - Individual 18 - - * - Portfolio Management - Institutional 18 - - * - Portfolio Management - Performance Eval. 18 * - - - Portfolio Management - Risk Management 18 - - *

Thanks to all of AFers you guys are great! In competition and in spirits. I wish all the very best to Gottabecfa and all those who would be taking up the last hurdle once again.

For me… I am not sure if I want to tread this path again. I simply do not have the stamina and resources in me to take the gauntlet.

I am not devastated but too tired I guess.

Thanks anyway.

(I will personally wish @Gottabecfa)
