I found it in the book 5 of the curriculum. right after alternative investments
funny. did you find it easier than other sections?
i think its painful and there is overlap with level 1 Fixed income
is 1 month enuff for FI+Portfolio+ Alt inv ?
I think FI is kinda mid-level difficulty. The last couple of readings regading ABS and tranches and all that business is a bit confusing but not crazy difficult. I need to read over this section and maybe watch a video for 1 reading.
VickyCool, I think you can do it in a month. You can smash Alt Inv in half a week IMO. I’m doing PM now, seems ok to me, memorise/understand a few intersting concepts and their formulas and you’re good to go.
Ok today i will start with Portfolio. Hoping to finish portfolio+ alt in vy 10th march and then 20 days for FI
woah, we seem to be in the same boat… I think of giving 12 days to Alt+FI and 10 days to Derivatives + PM… (4 hrs per day on average)
I didn’t find it very challenging, but that’s maybe because I’ve already studied the subject at uni. I agree with cleverCFA though, the structured securities can get a bit confusing, and they do have lots of details to remember as well…
Last time around, it was not as difficult. Of course being surrounded by derivatives and PM makes it easier on a comparative basis.
At first some of the readings seemed a bit intimidating but after going through the EOC problems, Ive found this section to be relatively straightforward so far.
A Hard Day’s Night :
Interviewer: How did you find America?
John: We turned left at Greenland.
@ pierrewoodman, we seem to be close to the same stage
about FI, I think this is the harded IMO. There are tons if details this is a pain…
I skipped many details in I in last 2 chapters.
Finished first read of FI yesterday. The last 2 readings are long and boring. Will attempt EOC this weekend, then maybe i can be clear about where i stand. Its not so bad a topic compared to some others.the MBS/ABS stuff can get to you but compared to those 3 monsters in FRA-Intercorp, pensions and multinationals, this is much easier to handle.
Alt seems like an iffy subject to me.
