I told my friend from college I just took Level 1 and he asked what it was like. This is exactly how I described it. A few subjects weren’t touched on, but in general L1 is like having to take all your major courses’ finals in one sitting and passing.
People are putting way too much on Level 2. Overly dramatic. Level 2 is harder than Level 1, but only about 2.5 times harder. Level 1 had so much crap out there and you didn’t know exactly what was going to be on the test. Level 2 has probably about 15-20 big deal concepts you need to understand and know (fifo/lifo liquidation, pension acct, fcff/fcfe, regression, It’s easier to drill down the big ticket items on Level 2 because you know they are going to be tested. Level 1 had so much minute detail that your head would explode.
L1 = WTH L2 = WTF
I think the exams are an equal challenge but from different points of view. They must make Level II harder, as you already know what the deal is, how you have to learn, how they will test, etc, so the only way to do it is to be very tough about the material itself now. Of course L2 is harder strictly comparing the materials tested, but not in terms of challenge to individual.
bump
lol keep the great thread ALIVEEEEEEEEEEEEE !!!
Here’s my post on why L2 is harder than L1 http://www.analystforum.com/phorums/read.php?12,1291179 The outrageous comparisons early on the post pissed me off last year because they were so unhelpful. hopefully, my post will help educate those L2 candidates who really want some information.
