bump for level 2 candidates starting prep

I am done with 3 study sessions of Level II. So far I have found Level II as not difficult but interesting. May be its due to the fact that I am more inclined towards understanding and applying things in spite of just remembering them. In Level I merely remembering the statements as facts and going with the blurred picture was not an easy job for me. In Level II I have found that in depth understanding and application of knowledge is required on a larger scale. This is good for me as I am enjoying it.

“Level 1, first 15 minutes of Mary Poppins. Level 2, first fifteen minutes of saving private ryan” That’s spot on Mr Moose!

Very little in Level II is all that difficult, but there’s an awful lot to remember. It’s still early and you’re just starting out. Wait until you’ve covered Quant, FRA, the back half of Equities and all of Derivatives. See if you can keep all the plates spinning at the same time next June.

bump…

something to look forward to as we await results…

I think the main difference quite frankly is with Level 1, if you study hard do the Qbank, practice exams and are well prepared you will pass. With Level 2, you can do all the preparation in the world and do very well on the practice exams and still walk out of the exam feeling like you got your *ss kicked. Its a very humbling experience.

Level 1 - Getting touched by Michael Jackson

Level 2 - Getting touched by Jerry Sandusky

More tricky, more ambigous, more quant, more analytical issues

I definitely agree with more ambigious… Some questions in Equity Industry analysis for ex, you just cannot eliminate answers. There could always be some logic behind choosing every answer  As someone said here, its a humbling experience. It was for me personally - I might fail/I might pass - but there was no dearth of effort from me for past six months - again doesnt guarantee a pass, probably on L1 it does give you that comfort/guarantee!

stuff is tricky…but what drives one down is the amount of stuff to remember and the numerous ways to calculate one thing…

Agree that the main thing about Level II is the sheer volume of topics you have to balance in your head at the same time. That, and accounting. I despise accounting.

Level 1: Sailing in a Perfect sunny calm weather

Level 2: Sailing in a Perfect Storm

Want another?

Level 1: Few days after the exam, finding at least 10 to 20 AF members posting in L2 forum asking “How to prepare for L2 as am almost certain of passing”

Level 2: Few days after the exam, Finding almost Zero members in L3 forum asking about how to prepare for L3 exam as almost no body is certain about passing

I like that
