how do I become a CFA exam proctor?

It looks like being one of those exam proctors is an easy way to pick up $200 for an afternoons work. Where do I sign up? Maybe I’ll proctor your Level II retake. If you bribe me, …

You don’t sign up to become a proctor, you are chosen…hand-picked by the CFAI from their secret list of potential targets identified at birth. Watched and nurtured from a distance before being plucked away and held for 364 days a year in freeze chambers to be thawed out on exam days

you need to be an ex con…

I think being a proctor is an actual job, or can be. The proctors at our location kept talking about the different tests they proctor like the CBEST, MPRE, and a few others I forget now.

I think they pick them up at the local retirement home.

Get a job at a university testing center - that’s where they get many of them. A friend of mine was offered to proctor CFA, but she was actually taking L1 then, and could not do it. And it’s $500 for the day.

I’d rather lay out in the sun and take my free day off from work. But that’s just me. Oh, and waste an additional $500 drinking all day.

$500? Now i’m really interested. I need to get into the professional exam proctering cicuit. It’ ssooooooo easy, I can sleep on the job and take bribes.

$500 for 6 hours of work? no freaking way! there is $130K a year. Why work so hard to become a CFA charter? become a CFA procter instead.

I made more /hr waitressing than I ever have in any salaried position since… but that was only for ~3 hrs a day. Something also has to be said for benefits and that little thing called… GROWTH POTENTIAL

Unless if you pass there level of exmas and become a Chartered Proctor. By the way, it is not a violation of CPI code of conduct to use chartered proctor as a noun. It is actually encouraged.

I think there’s training involved. They just don’t show up for 6 hours for the exam. There are behind the scenese things that we don’t know, like where they put the exams or even wearing those stupid traffic vests.

> yeah… its $500 a day, but unfortunately its also 500 a year. no.. once you get into the proctering circuit, you can proctor medical boards, law bar exams, CFA exams, actuarial exams, portfolio managers exams, teachers exams, etc etc. You can proctor every single week, sometimes more than once. AND you only work when you want to, because it is temp work. \> I made more /hr waitressing than I ever have in any salaried position since… but that was only for ~3 hrs a day. you should have stuck with it. i bet when you are in a full time salaried position, you will realize your waitress job was more interesting, helping people, laughing with people, interacting with people, no worries after quitting time, free food, … > Something also has to be said for benefits and that little thing called… GROWTH POTENTIAL you can grow on your own time.

Akanska, I didn’t know you were female. Your breed is rare in these parts, and welcome…where you from? Where did you waitress? Did you have to wear flair?

Also, I remember asking the proctor on level 1 and he says that you need to know someone to get the job. Is that true?

i took the exam in bangkok and majority of the proctors there seemed to be americans on vacation or expat americans with nothing else to do on a sunday.for an international exam, can’t believe cfai cant find locals to do such jobs.

Dsylexic, CFAI does not want locals. Locals are unreliable and lazy.

yeah sounds like classic globalization. americans get to keep the high productivity jobs like proctoring. the other stuff like money management stuff will be outsourced.
