I have had the same TI-BA2+ calculator since August of 2012 and have never replaced the batteries. Is it actually worth it for me to get a replacement battery and screwdriver, or do these things typically last 5+ years?

How lucky do you feel?
I had the same calculator, with the same battery, for 6 years. Not that I was using it everyday but it was still kickin. I replaced it before the level 1 in December and ill be bringing a spare to the exam.
Hopefully til June 8th.
Last exam. Calculator worked fine and all good. Then I brought out the calculator in janauary again and boom — done. Dont know what happened and it was toast. Switched the battery and still dead.
I was so happy I made it through the exam. Thought about it afterwards and I could honestly see myself shed a bit of a tear.
You think i would learn but I doubt nothing will happen. Still only taking one calculator to exam.
I’ve have used the same calculator since 2008. Bought a backup which I’ve used since December 2012. Haven’t replace the battery in either. Hopefully it works well this saturday, then I’ll buy new batteries for both.

I swapped out my battery last year before the exam. This year I’m feeling risky
the question is, do you feel lucky
Just to go one of the big retailers (Target, Walmart), get a spare calculator and return it after the exam. You’ll get a refund no problem.
Extremely unlikely a calculator dies during the exam, but its not worth the risk.
You’re obviously concerned that this could be a problem, so on exam day worrying about your calculator is just another thing that could add stress. The last thing you need to worry about while valuing a currency swap is wondering if your calculator can make it through. That 2nd calculator will give you peace of mind on exam day. Return it and it’ll cost you nothing.
Just bought a new one today and plan to take both. I’m sure my original would be just fine, but figured $28 was worth it just in case.
Are we allowed to bring in two calculators to the exam?
^ yes. Cases have to be removed though.
youll make a good analyst
