How long does it take to read Secret Sauce?

I know reading speed varies, but just wondering if one can do a complete reading in one evening?

I tried today and I won’t even be close. I read pretty slow though.

i think one evening would be difficult. because there is so much qualitative stuff and not so many formulas, it also tends to be slow reading. but i read like a third grader. it would probably take me 3 days. i’m just pulling that number out of thin air because i didn’t read mine in one sitting.

2-3 days more likely. You can probably skip the ethics part. There is a decent chunk at the end too that is not course material and only relates to exam test-taking strategies.

OK, better get out of here and start than.

Might be a good plan to skim through it to identify weak areas and as you find those drill deeper into the text. I’ve read through the sauce 2.5 times and now getting limited use out of it. It’s great for a broad overview though to tie the curriculum together.

The Secret sauce ? You read like a novel: 2/3 hours max and 4 if you are slow!

But if you want to really understand and master the content, take a couple of days… MH

It took me 3 weeks to read it the first time, 2 weeks the second time, hoping to be done in 1 week on my third read through and a few days on my fourth read through. I would suggest reading it over a longer period of time so that you would be able to concentrate and retain material.

I’ve read CFAI once and Schweser once, so it is not going to be super slow reading. I just averaged 40 pages the first hour, so thinking mhannebert is a bit optimistic, but reading in <8 hours is definitely doable.

Hey guys, I was obviously kidding. Read my second post! MH.

I have read most of the Sauce and liked it at first but then started to find it of limited use for the level of detail needed to answer CFAI questions. I’ve now resorted to more detailed reviews of Schweser and even CFAI texts. The Sauce is great for a very broad refresher if you already know most of the details behind it all. However, if you have forgotten much of the detail, I find it just skips over too much to really fill the gaps. So tough to balance the level of detailed review with the remaining study time!

I don’t anticipate reading it more than once, as I don’t think it has enough detail for LIII…LII maybe, but not III.

I will read my own notes, relates to me better when it is my own handwriting.
