How many hours did you study for Level III?

How many hours did you study for the Level III exam? Was this amount greater or less than the number of hours you spent on Level II? Thanks!

Level II. 449 hours 30 mins 10 secs Level III 488 hours 15 mins 2 secs

Sum of the above for each level. 937 hours 45 min 12 secs

its different for each person. and do people actually sit there and calculate/log the hours they study? ridiculous.

You’re seriously overestimating the amount of time it takes do that.

I didn’t do it for L1 or L2 but was curious and thought I’d try it for L3. You know how much time it took? About 2-3 seconds at the end of each day to write a single digit number in the corner of a square on my calendar. The most time-consuming part was finding the calendar after the test and adding up a bunch of single digit numbers. I would be shocked if it took me more than 10 minutes total during the 6 months, including the complicated addition at the end.

I will not be divulging what I found. I just wanted to make sure people like this understood it’s not as ridiculous as it may seem.

and why exactly do you want to know how many hours you put in to study for an exam? If you hit 300 hours does that mean you are going to pass? Is that guy that put in 250 hours doomed to fail? The whole exercise is utterly ridiculous. Did you do the same thing when you took your calculus final in college? What exactly is with the obsession on the number of hours put in for one of these exams. Who cares.

There are various apps available that let you record time by day (like a Project) and they are free. I did it for L3. So I wasnt sitting calculating single digit numbers but had a running total - all I had to do was push the ON or OFF when starting and ending study sessions.

Although I dont think it matters as long as you pass, I think it gave me a reference point as to how much I am dropping off by week or day but it was also good to use as a reference point and a source of motivation at times to keep up with the average time spent studying.

I only did this for Level 3.

You sound like fun.

It’s not obsession. It’s not for validation. It’s not for anything other than sheer curiosity.

I’m curious why it bothers you so much that people might be curious enough to count their hours - to the point that you feel compelled to rant on an online forum? Maybe some of them are obsessed (I don’t count myself among them) - but who are you to judge what they do with their time?

I never count hours. Other than for fun after the fact maybe estimating, but idk how so many people count their exact hours it’s A) a waste of time and B) completely inaccurate, as no one can keep track or differentiate in the long term between “good” studying and “distracted” studying

If you have to study over 300 hours for any level your iq is under 120. FACT

Level 2 - 212

Level 3 - 246.75

It was about holding myself accountable & keeping on the study schedule I set up. Also about allocating more time to the more heavily tested sections.

I kept track for L1 and L2, but I didn’t for L3 because I didnt keep up with when I’d study before work, during work, and after.

Well… that escalated quickly…

didn’t mean to be so harsh… but you get my point.

Anyway, good luck to all on L3 results.

you need to put in at least the same amount of effort for L3 as L2, they are both beasts. L1 is slightly easier.

If you feel you don’t have to spend 300 hours and end up failing. Then your IQ is <= 70! wink Cost of failing is too high to game it.

I’m pretty sure that I put in at least 30 hours.

(But that was in '99, so you should increase that for inflation.)

Around 300 hours. Is it enough? I’ll tell you next August 12th.

lol. nicely done sir.

Level 1 ~ 250

Level 2 ~ 350

Level 3 ~ 470

About 420 hours for L3 for me.
