How many hours so far? How many more hours?

Right, before I get shot down with a chorus of “hours dont mean anything” or “it’s totally irrelevant”, just for a bit of fun (at this point in your studies you’d be forgiven for forgetting what that word means)…I was wondering how many hours people had completed so far for L3, and how many more they are thinking of trying to squeeze in before D Day.

I’m up to just over 350 at the moment, and hoping to get in another 60-70 (if work permits it) over the next 3 weeks or so before the exam.

I did bang on 400 for L2 and felt pretty overprepared once I actually saw the exam, so I’m hoping if I hit the 420 mark or so for L3 I could have somewhat less than horrible experience come the 4th of June. Of course, that’s not a given by any means.

Anyone feel totally prepared? Anyone feeling horribly underprepared?

Anyone got some fantastically amazing battle plan for the last 3 weeks that they care to share?

I must be close to 300 hours, although I never really tracked it so kinda of hard to say. I’m still seeing much volatility in my results to mocks so still a lot to do…

I think i worked between 250-300 hours so far.

I do have a fantastically amazing battle plan for the last 3 weeks : I take 3 week off to prepare full time.

I should reach around 400-450 hours overall.

Wow, 3 weeks? Did your company gave you those days or are you working in banking in France and getting 8 weeks off anyway ? wink

I do not work in France, so it is quite a high price compare to my yearly vacations. I was not given the days.

Studied around 100-150 hours. Taking a 17 day break. Will barely hit 300 hours. Not expecting much to be honset.

Currently a little over 350 hrs and hoping for 450 by exam time. Going to ramping up on the weekends and have a week off prior to the 4th.

As for feeling prepared, I’d say I feel adequately prepared to pass at this point. However, I would really like to have a bit more of a “cushion” feeling going in. Currently scoring around the 65-70% mark on mocks and hope to bring that into the 70-75%+ before the big day. I think it’s attainable.

Would you mind giving the split AM PM ?

Have already crossed 400hours, and have week before off-work.

Targeting 480-500 hours

Thread won’t be complete until Portfolio Manager chimes in that everyone has it easier than him and/or he hasn’t started mocks yet.

I’m gonna make you all feel great about your selves. Haven’t even hit the 100 hour mark, just got to the 5th book in the Schweser notes. You’re welcome

Way over 300 since I failed last year. I am feeling prepared. This is the first time I have felt prepared for any of them exams.

don’t know about the hours but I havent even finished 1st reading, still at 75% of schweser book 4 and so anyone can guess how horrible it must be. I have taken off from work till exam, so “trying” to study but couldnt really study at all because of major personal issues. I stare at every page for about an hour as I day dream about life.

hahahah this is so true!!!

and as usual S666 is showing how far ahead of the game he is…

420 hours now, will hit 500+ by the test.

Regardless of how many exact hours you have devoted, look at it this way: you can either be prepared or not prepared. All we can do now is continue to work hard and try to be as prepared for this exam as we possibly can be. Good luck to all and I hope our hard work pays off, let this be our last CFA exam!!

Haha

HAHA, PM is the biggest troll on the entire forum.

Talking about hours, I must’ve put in 200+ upto now. Aiming for 300 - but this level has been a drag for me, and I’ve found it hard to focus with so much qualitative/relatively dry stuff. Have to say I enjoyed Level II far better.

in my opinion we should not focus on # of hours that we have put in …this xam looks for qualitative aspects of preparation, ability to bundle up all areas in one portfolio context, how precisely, neatly with correct reasoning we could present in AM session and apply this core knowledge in PM session as well.

I just have finished my first read and already put up 300+ hours , but feeling less confident and burnout sometimes …seems @ a lot is still to retain, learn and practice…

Please suggest what should be our last days approach. also , share ur thoughts and views.

Am i the only one who is far behind in terms of starting doing AM/PM ??

hope for the best guys…

~400 hours so far; will cross 500 by exam time, as I’m taking the week off before the exam so that week will easily be 70 hours. This is the last one so I’d rather really make a go of it and get my free time back afterwards…lots of alcohol waiting for me the evening of June 4

For next two weeks, finish first stab at all mocks (6 Schweser, plus 2.5 CFAI - 3 past AM exams and 1 mock of 120 MC questions = 2.5 exams to me) and look at problem areas (so may focus on the CFAI topic tests for those areas) while rereading notes at least twice. I’m on Schweser #6, and 25% through first read of my notes, so making decent pace.

I’ll redo one exam per day from the Saturday or Sunday before until Thursday, then reread notes (and to a lesser extent, formulas) over and over again after that in the time left.
