FT has hit on this in the past and he is spot on. The variation and skew of unique sexual partners is much greater for men than women. Well documented. The top of the heap as had sex with your wives and girlfriends. I’m good friends with a true 1% in the mating game. He went five for five on one vacation, five nights, five different women. Two of the women were engaged twenty somethings, both attorneys from Scottsdale. Definitely 8s or better physically. Be happy they don’t share their number. You don’t want to know. As far as the 1%er, he’s married now with three kids. Has not strayed as far as I know. Judge all you want. His single years were better than yours. And it seems his memories will sustain him. My argument is not about FT’s comment on how the top 20% or top 1% can find people to screw more easily. FT talks about it constantly and I don’t disagree that the top of the male spectrum tends to do disproportionately better.
My argument is about how arithmetic works. If males and females are 50:50 in the population, then the average number of unique MF pairings has to be the same for men as for women. It’s basically the same argument that explains why the average of linear regression residuals is always zero. It’s not that the top 20% of residuals is so much larger that it pulls up the average for all of them. No the average of the residuals is always zero, even though the top 20% is larger than the bottom 80%. So if the average reported men’s number is larger than the average reported women’s number, how does that happen. One answer (the simplest one) is “lying about laying.”
Thinking about my earlier argument, threesomes won’t change this either, because each pair in a threesome counts as a unique MF couple, which adds one to the men’s count and adds one to the women’s count (and the FF pairing or MM pairing is irrelevant here). What may affect the average is disproportional birth rates (more women than men in society), disproportional death rates (some people’s partners aren’t around to give their count), disproportional forgetfulness (people forget some partners in their count), and finally, just regular lying.
This thread reminds me of the season finale of Mike Judge’s Silicon Valley.
bchad, your arguement is perfectly valid in regards to unique partners, but no way in hells MMF is more common than FFM. Trust. Either way, these moresomes don’t happen nearly enough to skew the averages all that much.
My comment about MMF vs FFM was a hypothesis and not that important to my main point, so I’m not highly invested in how that data point works out.

Eh, I’ve definitely kicked women out of bed, and they weren’t eating crackers. It’s true that it is easier for a woman to find a guy with no standards than vice versa…but the guy with no standards is probablly not what she’s looking for.
I had a girlfriend in college and we used to have what we called “porn star sex.” I’m sure she had a high number as she spent time traveling around the country in a band. I also doubt that type of sex would have been possible if she didn’t have that number. So many guys want their girl to be a virgin but act like a slut. It’s stupid and makes no sense.
