bchad, I was definitely talking generally and not about you or anyone in particular. I concur. I have no idea what keeps you going. I was hoping by referring to the plural, “wives and girlfriends,” It would be apparent that I was not commenting on any individual.
An extreme example to illustrate my point. All straight. No threesomes. All traditionally married to one another and have consummated the relationships.
10 women. 10 men. 1 man has slept with all ten women. 9 men have slept with one woman. 9 women have slept with two men. 1 woman has slept with one man. One man has slept with everybody’s wives. I’m assuming prior to anybody getting married.
The average number of partners is the same for the men and women, but the distribution is different. Do you not think the numbers are skewed in this manner in America? Yes, I agree. There are women with very large numbers as well, but they usually f*ck up, not down. Men definitely go down on occasion, if not regularly.
Rare to find a forty year old man that wishes he had fewer partners during his single years. I wonder if women wish they had more partners? That is all.
Oh, and my use of “unique” was in the sense of unique visitors to a particular individual. Poor communication on my part.
Wow, this makes absolutely no sense, because the rules have changed. In general, 10,000 years ago it didn’t really matter if a woman found a man attractive. Here’s how it often went:
Woman: Oh, Triplolo you’re so cute let’s go in the bushes.
Triplolo: Yeah, let’s go baby.
Both exit into the the bushes.
Genghis Khan (who was not known for his good looks), or some other baddass, kills Triplolo and rapes the woman. The end. That why Senor Khan has the widest spread genetic line around, I’ve heard. What we currently consider attractive didn’t really enter into it.

I know the distribution is skewed. I’m just getting at the point that the fact that the average reported number of partners for men should be equal (in a statistical sense) to the average reported number of partners for women, unless there is lying or something else going on. What those something elses might be is interesting to figure out.
Ive been with enough women throughout my life that being with a many more or a few less would not make a qualitative difference to my happiness now (it might have made my 20s happier, but that’s irrelevant today). There are some specific women who - if it had happened with them.- would (I anticipate) have been wonderful experiences and cherishable memories. But that’s specific to some very select individuals, and not about how big my number is, overall. Women actually actually have it right: attraction is important, but quality is more important than quantity in the long run. After 40, life is almost all about upping the quality of your experiences. Before then, a lot of it is driven by the desire to sample everything on the buffet.
Another interesting fact is that Genghis Khan’s first son is widely thought to be from another man, as his first wife was kidnapped and given away as a wife. She gave birth to Genghis Khan’s first son less than 9 months after being rescued. Genghis Khan raised the boy as his own, but it was a big issue with regard to succession.
Well, if the woman wants the super sperm, the badass wouldn’t have to rape her. Much like how one in ten American women bring badass sperm back to their marriage. Heads up. If a husband and wife both have blue eyes but Johny has brown eyes, “you’re not the father.” Odds are that somebody reading this post is raising a child thinking they are the genetic father when they in fact are not. Another interesting tidbit is that the woman is much more likely to conceive with the badass than with her husband. Something to do with excitement levels and timing. May I recommend DNA testing…
Thanks to the AF bretheren, I decided to try to change my mindset although it will be hard to do. I was taking a women’s perspective worrying about her past, what she’s done, and all that. Just gonna bang it as much as I can as often as I can and stop being such a women. She should be the one worrying about that type of crap.

I haven’t read through this whole mess, but there was a question about how there can be a variation in the average reported numbers, assuming hetero sex and a nearly 1:1 ratio. I offer 2 anecdotes that speak partially to the issue, although “lying” is probably most likely the answer.
About a year after dropping out of college the first time, I got a call from a girl I sort of knew. I definitely knew who she was, and I was close with one of her friends, but our lives rarely intersected. She was calling me to see if we ever slept together, because she had a child of unknown parentage. The larger point here is that some people apparently have no idea who they did or did not sleep with, but the smaller point is that she had to have at least been willing to sleep with me if my name popped into her head. Although, perhaps the thought process was more along the lines of “that creepy friend of Naomi’s looked like a rapist.” Let’s move on.
My kids were gone at my parent’s lake home for the weekend so my wife and I went out with a few other couples and had some drinks. When the cab got us back home, my wife wasn’t in any condition to do anything. The next morning when I tried to take advantage of our childless morning, I was told that we had sex last night and she just wanted to sleep now. So apparently, it is also possible to think you had sex when you didn’t.
Bonus anecdote: In college I knew knew 2 girls that looked a lot alike. One was named Melissa and the other was named Stephanie. I went home with Melissa and drunkenly called her Stephanie as we were just beginning to get down to business. This didn’t go over well at all. I count that one, because she was pretty hot and there was a fleeting moment of intercourse. I’d be shocked if she counted that one.
