How many people showed up for the CFA exam at your location?

I haven’t taken the exam yet. But how many people show up for the exam? A rough estimate. I am taking L1 in December in New York and would like to know how many people I should expect to see. 100? 500? 1000? or much more?

houston was probably a little over 500

200 = Indy. at least 2000+ = boston Ny will be insane. i suggest you take it in a small town, less distractions, just fly day before and sit in a motel like i did

Omaha NE =150-200 Level I, 40 Level II, 20 Level III Land of the Oracle

over 2000? Where is the testing center? in MSG?

500 ATL

Javits center in the city. Meadowlands right across the river in jersey has like 1500-2000 i would guess

Thats big enough to accommodate everyone. Can you guys please provide your experiences with so many other test takers. Is it really distracting when you have over 2000 people taking the exam with you? Or do they divide the people up in small groups and proctor the exam in small rooms?

Took Level 1 at the Javits Center a couple years ago - I think all Level 1 exams in the city are proctored there. Considering that there are easily 3000 people sitting for level 1, probably more, in the Javits Center, it was a pretty smooth process. I can’t remember specifics, but the center is partitioned up into multiple rooms of maybe 500 people per room. I shared a long table with one other person, and didn’t feel crowded despite the large number of people in the room. For the most part, my exam room was completely silent and I was able to focus well. That being said, if you’re easily distracted by shuffling papers/coughing/sniffling, then remember to bring ear plugs. And the test center is cold, so dress appropriately. Edit: Considering the numbers posted for other centers, I’m clearly, and largely, underestimating the number of people testing at the Javits Center. The point is - the test center is decently well organized, and run fairly efficiently. Most likely, once the exam starts, you’ll forget how many people you’re surrounded by. If you take the exam at the Javits Center, just arrive early and make sure you know where you’re going. It is very crowded and hectic outside the rooms during the minutes prior to the start of the exam.

1 of 12 people during my Dec 05 Level I in McMurdo Station

So you are saying its a good idea for me to visit Javits Center before hand (once I get the exam info)?

Don’t waste your time doing that. Just allocate enough time to get to the Javits Center, arrive early or they will close the gates on you

took it in Foxboro in an indoor footbal facility, nuf said. there was plenty of parking.

Highly recommend as an anxiety/nervousness relief… You will estimate how long it will take you to get there, and will see what it looks like inside the room… One of the proctors even showed me in which area I will be seating (not the exact seat though - that is assigned to you on the exam day)

It’s in a big hall. Like I think a-d, one of those. I recently went to take a seminar in one of those halls. They were proctering a test next door. Personally, I wouldn’t waste time going to the Javits to see what its like. Just see how long it take you to get to 34th street allocate 20 minutes to walk to the Javits and allow some time to arrive early.

I recall something around 2000 in Toronto in Dec 07

I took lvl II at the hilton at 56 and 6th in NYC and it seemed that there was 1000+

chicago was planned for 3000, not sure how many showed though (2500?)
