I was busy and just glanced at the first post. I thought you were saying you were having difficulty cutting lower, hence my point. Obviously I misunderstood the gyst so I wouldn’t read any more than that into it.
Agree with all points on living simply though. I crowds my mental/emotional energy to have to take care of too much crap. Also, if having someone clean my house is douchy then I’m a bag
As long as your spending patterns don’t stress you out and you save as much as you wish, there is no need to cut anything. Only you can answer that question and act accordingly. We were just providing suggestions on what is easiest (in our opinion) to cut.
krnyc, I was more just riled up by being indirectly called douchey…and I wasn’t done my morning coffee. All suggestions are appreciated. It also makes me appreciate how specific people’s situations are.
For example, you suggest eliminating taxis, but based on exactly where I live that would mean walking hours, driving drunk or taking an hour bus wait/ride rather than a $10 cab. Everywhere is not serviced by subway here, although many areas are. In NYC, I almost never take a taxi. So, saying I should eliminate all taxis is kind of like me saying to you that you should quit renting and buy a fixer upper for $150k. Ain’t happening.
December was a little high…my 2014 average was about $13,000 per month. I think most on AF would agree that it’s not that unreasonable for anyone who’s been in this business for 5-6 years to afford and still be able to save a decent 6 figure amount every year.
That’s why I said the former soon-to-be Mrs. I don’t think she has the option to stay in Philly, as I understand she already quit, moved, and started a new job in KC.
@IHIHM - you spend $150k per year and save at least $100k per year. I’m assuming you pay at least $100k in taxes. So that means you make at least $350k per year, no?
It must be hard to walk with your dk banging around by your ankles.
