How much do you spend for a haircut?

I used to shell out around $35 all in for a wash/cut from a low key guy I went to in NYC for years. Now I moved somewhere where the avg all in goes $100+. Feels like such a ripoff. The last 3 figure cut i had was totally not worth it. And to do this one every 6 weeks?

35 plus 10 dollar to tip every 4 weeks

$10 + $5 tip in Chinatown

How much time is spent on a $100 experience? That’s $200k minus chair rental if it’s an hour. $12 with tip for mine.

$0

$30 including tip; this guy from Ukraine who does a phenomal job.

$20 + $5 from a Lebanese barber shop down the street. Three nice guys cutting hair, good sports on, comfy chairs. Includes razor neck shave. Worth every penny. Now that I’m getting close to being bald enough that I may need to shave it all off, it’s like I’m going in there for the last time every time I visit…

Now I buzz my own with an electric trimmer.

But back in the days of having hair, a biker guy with an old school barber shop the size of a large closet would cut mine for $8. He was completely tatted up and I always just assumed he learned to cut hair in prison. When one of his friends was there he’d turn and talk to the guy and keep doing the trimmer work one handed. The cool but scary part was he would do all of the shaving around the back of my neck with one of those old straight edges. Which was unnerving and involved a surprising amount of trust.

My guy does that as well, feels so good. But it’s less badass than it looks. I use one for my face now and once you get the hang of it, the badass feel goes away quickly. And you can’t really show off your blades for the world to see and admire your skill. Occasionally I go into work with a sweet neck wound though.

20 bucks, downtown manhattan, seriosly best haircut

$25 with $5 tip. I’m pretty happy.

The one time I did highlights just for fun and to see what it does, it ran close to $100 in today’s dollars. Color is expensive.

Maybe itera colors his hair? I can’t see why a man’s cut would be anywhere near $100 otherwise. Or perhaps it comes with multiple happy endings…

First time reading about the etiquette of tipping a barber. Just where do you Americans draw a line of tipworthiness?

Hail Mr. Pink.

8$ each month and each time give 1,5 tip, thus 9,5 total.
