How to move into private banking?

Hello,

I currently hold an operational risk role. Trying to make a career switch I entered the CFA program and I am a L2 candidate. Since I am trying to make a career change in my early 30s, I am looking around to find which part of the industry really has all those elements to stick in. From a bit of research I strongly believe that private banking and wealth management would be ideal for my personality and style.

The question is what is the correct way to break into such an industry, since my chances to enter graduate programs are small as I am not a recent graduate.

Thank you

Private banking is nothing but banking for people with high $. Having that said, best way to break into private banking is not necessary CFA charter, you can also try to go to trust school (CTFA). Relationship building will be the key.

CFP, a good network of wealthy people ($1 million+ liquid assets), a contact in a bank, and some sales experience should do the trick.

you don’t need a CFA for private banking. I see quite a bit of those jobs posted in Canada.
