hOW TO SET UP ROUNDING ON hp 12C CALCULATOR?

When I am trying to solve for the number of periods by pressing “n” it will round up to 2years when it is 1.6 years or 10 when it is 9.9 years. Does anybody know how to set this up so that it displays in a more accurate fashion?

hit the orange F key, then the number of places you want to be shown after the decimal. So “f” “9” will give you 9 places after the decimal.

it gives me 8.000000000 back to square one…:frowning:

read the manual!

I may be wrong on this but I don’t believe the older 12c’s (and come to think of it the new ones might not be able to either) will round for number of periods. You can use the F key all you want to set the number of decimals, but that’s simply setting the decimals, not rounding when it comes to solving for N on the 12c. If you must have a more precise number of periods, I recommend you change your compounding frequency (so adjust your interest rate and payment accordingly).

get yourself the hp12 platinum. it’s bitchin!
