how to use a recalled P/Y value in a calculation? (BA II)

say for example if I want to divide 5000 by the PV value which is 100, I do the following

5 000 ÷ RCL PV = 50

But I can’t do the same thing with P/Y

5 000 ÷ RCL 2ND P/Y = won’t work, stuck on the P/Y value

this is frustration because after I find the N, and I want to convert it back to number of years, I can’t do it directly.

do you realize that you are NOT USING THE CALCULATOR GOD GAVE YOU (YOUR BRAIN) And DEPENDING TOO MUCH ON A TI toy?

and since when did 5000/100 become 500000 instead of 50?

lol, it was a typo thanks for pointing that out. I know TI BA II is a tool to help me, and that’s why I want to learn to use it efficiently in the exam. The better I am at it, the faster I can be in the exam.

do you realize that most of the exam is more conceptual. even at level I there are more problems you would solve without the calculator than you would with it

do you know the answer to my original question or not?

PS. I am not learning BA II solely for the CFA, there is no hurting in learning on how to use it.

the question is a. why would you need to do that?

b. I have never seen the use for it, so I guess unless you show me a problem where sth. like that is required, I couldn’t care less.

If you really want to learn how to use BA II Plus, then read its manual first.
