95 percent of girls will deny loving it.

wow thanks for ruining an interesting post – grow up

Ruin it? Or made it more awesome?

People who work in this industry and/or live in New York have a distorted perception of compensation levels in general. One of my more retarded friends was under the impression that 90% of all people over the age of 30 made 6 figures in Manhattan, and that there were at least 100,000 people on Wall Street who made a million dollars a year. I actually looked up income statistics on the government’s website and I think they reported that less than 30,000 households NATIONWIDE reported gross income of $1 million+ per year. The funniest part about the whole thing is that my idiotic friend didn’t even make 6 figures himself.

Numi - yes girls love intrigue and mystery Scando - …you know, I probably would have been surprised if I didn’t see that comment Brianr - tut tut tut!! And that story Hhad to be a joke…

So its true or it isnt?

This is a headline story on CNN again today a full week after it first appeared. There was another thread about the pizza-delivering Hedge Fund manager. . . the title of the show was called “Life on the Edge.” Can we get anymore lame? Sad thing is people watch/read this crap and say “Oh, yhea, this is the worst it has ever been.”

damn, how did i miss this thread. need to stop studying so much.

The term yuppie, (short for “young urban professional” )refers to an term for financially secure, upper-middle class young people in their 20s and early 30s. H’es a Guppie. He’s twice the age of a Yuppie (G stands for Grandpa), Ubiquitous (idiots like him are everywhere these days), Pathetic, Idiot with an E for emphasis. "

Quite honestly if I could get out of this business right now I probably would. I lived through 2000-02 and it was nowhere near as miserable as it is now. I’d gladly sacrifice the 7-figure upside for a stable long-term mid-6-figure job and UAW union representation.

why not call himself a mortgage broker?

Mid six figures and union represention I’d like to see that job.

There aren’t that many 6 figure salaries and unioned jobs. However, I think 50k-80k there are a lot of them. Even those jobs aren’t guaranteed anymore. I know nyc cops after 5 years can make 70-90k. Correction officers can make 65k after 5 years I think. These jobs have good pensions and healthcare.

What about the CEO limo driver’s union?

How could one had a “very good lifestyle” on 70k USD pa? This figure was pre-tax as well, probably. It just doesn’t make any sense. Even if he didn’t have a family, he would struggle on 70k, let alone living a luxurious life…

Even if he didn’t > have a family, he would struggle on 70k, let alone > living a luxurious life… clearly he was living off a refinance home equity line of credit… with rising home prices and 70 000 he can buy nice affordable vechiles and go on lavish vacations… and luxurious life style has a different meaning to different people. it baffles my mind that everyone on this board is bashing the article, but if someone is reading this article from like another country where they are not so fortunate, yes it coudl be very well be a luxurios life, cleaning running water, food on the table etc…

The story was made up. They wanted to show a banker story from rise to fall. He wasn’t a real banker. Maybe he was a mortgage broker making 70k?
