Agreed. I feel sorry for him. He doesn’t call himself a banker anywhere in the article (that is the label he is given) and only once calls himself a yuppie. No doubt a throwaway term. If I read it, he was probably more successful than his father to get a job with this salary and tried to provide too much for his family when times were seemingly good. Tried to treat his daughter well etc. I expect he was financially illiterate and overextended himself. No doubt aided by people willing to get him to take out home equity and so on and so forth. My summary - hard working family man succumbs to lack of prudence predicated on poor financial knowledge. There but for the grace of etc etc. I hope he turns it around. You guys with the private schooling are a tough crowd to please.
If he actually lived off his salary, there wouldn’t be many problems. Problems occured due to him raising debt (and a lot of it).
