Maybe China will pass us, maybe they won’t (remember when the BRICs were going to take over the world?). Why do people even care though? Will anyone’s life actually change when/if China becomes the world’s largest economy?
The US has to find a niche. They suck at everything right now, just living off yesterday. They could be the tech-guys, except that industry is a leftist-cult and doesn’t understand the multi-cultural nature of the world. They suck at customer service. Suck at manufacturing. They need to quit wanking off about yesterday, and get busy.
The largest economy just naturally ends up setting a lot of terms. For example, why use dollars? Why use the US financial system? Why not restructure the United Nations to be biased toward Asia instead of the West, etc. I think a lot will change.
nope sorry the leftist-cult understands multiculturalism much more than the rightist-cult.
good on America for dealing with these problems head-on unlike other white countries. They are again paving the path for the rest of the western world to follow while continuing to be the leaders in tech research and other new age sectors.
well done, bravo! hopefully the rest of the west does what they’ve done so far and blindly follows the american lead
Look at FB and GOOG, they have users all over the planet, yet they push their California-monoculture on everyone.
CA are intolerant bigots who hate conservatives, but umm there is a huge market called ASIA that is super-conservative. South Korea doesn’t like gays. Feminism never happened in many countries. Confucianism disagrees with everything postmodernism believes. The US companies can’t simultaneously become global providers in these tech-media spaces, while also being ideological fascists. It would require true multiculturalism, what I practice, actual tolerance.
What is really embarrassing—they are so clueless they do not appear to have thought of this?
im not aussie but for one the average aussie can’t buy a house in sydney. second chinese cultural impact is visible, wolf warriors 2 grossed a surprisingly high amount in australia but most importantly aussie politicians are being openly lobbied by chinese businessmen at an incremental rate which is prolly propotional to chinas wealth
dont have an opinion if its good or bad just that its obvious their impact will def have an influence on individual lives as well
Yeah, it really is difficult to turn of all these notifications from google telling me trump is a dick when i just want to buy a one plus phone.
I mean what are these clueless organizations doing becoming the biggest companies in the world right now when clearly they should be following the lead of that South - Korean search engine behemoth and China’s vast social netowrk that no one has heard of outside of China.
^Realistically? Yes, Americans will care. It is a point of pride for them, but the largest economy also has a larger influence on the world stage, control of the world’s primary currency, etc. There are a lot of qualitative benefits that come from being the leader and Americans take it for granted. Look at the UK, they were where you were 10 years ago, 100 years ago, look how their star has waned. Since the USA was born it has only been on a smoothed upward trajectory economically, China has been the world leader several times over in the past 2 millennia. The thing that is slowing China down is the aging population, which is where India has an advantage, China will eventually reach the top but may not hold top spot for too long because of the aforementioned trend. The real question Americans should be asking themselves is; can they become the leader again or are they are one-hit wonder? Obviously a question that sounds stupid in the short term but something to revisit in 100 years.
How can a country with approaching 400 million people be #1 in income or whatever? If you break this country up into 10 different countries of 40 million people though, then I bet some of those 10 smaller countries will be ranked very high (and some will be ranked low). If you want to compare the US to something, it needs to be a big scale like the European Union, not small populations that self segregate like US states.
In any case, US is still pretty highly ranked. If not Tom Cruise, it’s like the Brad Pitt of countries. India is easily the Steve Buschemi.
US needs to find a niche? How many people on this earth own an iPhone, use Facebook, use Google, and/or drink Coca Cola? I believe I have every human covered just with those. Seems like a bit more than a niche to me.
actually dwayne wayne johnson is the highest earning actor. aka the ROCK. and you cany break up the us. its a moot point. eu though you can def break that up.
You misunderstood what I meant. If you add more and more units of population, the statistics will average out. It’s almost impossible for the US to be number one, since it has too many people. So, saying Iceland is #1 and is better than US has no meaning.
but the idea is the more units of population you have the more productive you should be. so i guess demographics should play a role. we should prolly eliminate the capita that is too young or too old to work for gdp/per capita not in rl.
I cannot understand why the left doesn’t see a problem with comparing Norway to the US. It just doesn’t make sense given the massive size differences and that Norway is fairly homogenous. Also, not saying we don’t spend too much on the military, but saying it is astronomical is a bit misleading. It only accounts for 3.5% of US GDP, which doesn’t seem like a lot given we act as the global policeman. Other major countries (ex-Russia and Saudi) are at 2-2.5%.
