I have failed

I’M A COP YOU IDIOT!!

CFa : ‘Find the point between rage and serenity’ Me : ‘NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEIN’

Are we still doing Arnold quotes? My fave is from Commando: While being held captive Arnold says: “You’re a funny guy Sully, I like you. That’s why I’m going to kill you last …” Later while holding Sully over a cliff, Arnold (Matrix) says: “Remember, Sully, when I promised to kill you last?” Sully: That’s right Matrix, you did! Matrix: I lied. (Drops Sully)

Hi guys, Don’t really want to break the topic of the last few posts but… Got my results and they are like this: 2010 fail Band 9 2011 fail Band 7 I was gonna write reasons but it all feels like excuses. Anyone went through a similar phase? PS I assume you all watch the Arnold quotes from youtube?

Hate to see a thread like this. If i would have failed im sure id be feeling pretty discouraged as well to have to re study all the material again. one thing i can say is its possible, get after it for 2012!! No excuses… If you want it bad enough, you will complete all three levels. I passed L1 in dec, and L2 this year. I gotta say I cut everyone out of my life for a year and work my ass off for this… and so relieved to be on to the last hurdle. Good luck

MissCleo its funny sometimes in life its all about perspective. While I understand your frustration you may not be looking at things the right way. For instance I’m one of those “talented” people. I have a great GPA and I smoke standardized tests and tests in general. I am currently pursing 5 designations simultaneously and have a minimum A GPA (CMA, P. Eng, JD, MBA and CFA). Yet while I’m within a year of completed all the academic requirements I cannot get most of these because I cannot get a job with the right work experience. My complaint is that talent doesn’t count and life is more about who you know then what you know. I also feel that many “less deserving” candidates get positions over me even though they have inferior grades/resume`s. Don’t underestimate the value of hard work and don’t over estimate the complexity of jobs in the financial services industry because in my opinion very few of them are very complicated. Also realize there is far more to life then grades and innate ability. When I figure out exactly what that is I’ll let you know.

I suggest you read nasssim taleb’s book “fooled by randomness”

Mathlete you sound like a guy I would dislike greatly. You might pare down the list of things you’re working on (in your resume) and tailor what is most applicable to the job you’re applying for. I’m guessing people skills are where you’re getting beat out - maybe hit Numi up or read some Dale Carnegie… Best of luck to you anyways braheem.

This post was tough to read - sorry to all those who missed the cut. I have a tremendous amount of respect for those who fail and come back stronger in this b!tch. Get 'em next year. I like the prosti/8-ball advice as well - relax and do what you enjoy, and then get back to it.

Mathlete jesus christ, what do you hope to be when you graduate? A super human cyborg M & A attorney?

And thanks for making me feel worse about failing with so little relative to you on my plate.

Miss cleo dont feel bad u will eventually have CFA besides your name.

Yeah Miss Cleo, u got the required work experience which is worth much more than CFA LVL 2…Believe it or not, I think ppl would gladly switch positions with u

2009: failed; band 2 (job changing during study period) 2010: failed; band 2 (put too much time on Series 7 in Jan and Feb; then Ser. 63 in Mar) 2011: failed: band 3 (didn’t take any practice and mock exams due to home renovation in May). sound like every year has something blocking me from studying. thinking about a last shot or enjoy my life.

dear god i haven’t laughed this hard in months.

i am referring to a comment mr wake2000 made earlier.

Mathlete, if I was looking at your resume, I would have serious reservations about hiring you. True, you are smart guy and have a great academic background, but a hiring manager probably looks at your resume and says WTF??? I mean you are all over the place and obviously don’t know what you want to do with your life because you are pursuing five designations simultaneously. I would also encourage you to read some Dale Carnegie or at least spend some time on networking, toastmasters or something other than pure academics. Companies do not like machines or freaks and you frankly come across as one.

Band 6, first attempt, and read Schweser only once for 2011. No complaint or surprise as I was busy at work for months, and only took 3 days off, before exam. No time for EOC, QBank, or Schweser / CFAI mock exams. Barely opened Schweser notes, not even opened CFAI textbooks. I will try again 2012, and this time with CFAI textbooks + Schweser notes with 6+2 mock exams. I climbed up where I fell down, dusted off, wiped the blood, and keep running the marathon.

He’ll get shit done, so time to give him a job, son”
