i know this is L2 forum but.....

damn. Was browsing L3 forum and think some of us wil need psychiatric help if we get to L3. Some guys on that forum talk about failing 4, 5 and even 8 times. L3 seems sadistic to say the least. I nd some re-motivation rite about now. God help us. Can i get a Amen !

Didn’t you read about Guys on L3 forum who cleared L3 on the first attempt? What’s wrong in looking at them and getting motivated? I know two guys personally who went 3/3 and they are not supermen.

didnt go on L3 forum specifically looking 4 my AM dose of negativety. Jus unfortunately stumbld on that thread. In fact it was my very 1st time on there. Sure there r guys who passd first time. But has me thinkin that if u sit a record 8 times for an exam one would imagine that u hav probably seen every type of question they can throw ur way. What stood out is the poor band these people faild in, even after multiple attempts. The fact that they made it to L3 says alot. ie they not slouches. So exam mus be really tough.

We have different levels of intelligence my brother.lets take this program 3-0 for those who believe in wisdom

Failure is just an opinion

OOPS, can’t edit my previous post Given that each level produces <50% pass rate, there will be cases on either side of the pass/fail spectrum. Don’t worry, it’s natural. From my own experience, L-2 is a bigger change for an L-1 candidate, than L-3 is to L-2. You can spend your energy better by understanding the L-2 curriculum. It makes no sense to fret about the guys at L-3 forum. And take my word, Posting for the 1st time in the L-3 forum makes you feel BIG, REALLY REALLY BIG. The joy is amazing. So, focus on L-2 now, and you won’t need any Psychiatric help  Just my $0.02, from a June 2011 L-3 candidate

IMO the change from level 2 to Level 3 was a bigger leap than that of level 1 to level 2. Not to put anyone off or anything, but there is just so much more material to cover in level 3. For example: you have no multiple choice options to help you in the AM session. You have to know the material pretty damn well when faced with a blank space for your answer; CFAI tested the breadth of the level 3 curriculum in the AM this year. K

@jcole21 - I’ve seen the entire curriculum. And I’m judging the curriculum, not the exam  @Kakane - To each one his own. Some guys find L-2 tougher than L-3, for others it’s the opposite.

I’ll make it simple - level 3 is definitely not as easy as it used to be. Look at the historical pass rates you will see one very consistent tread - we call it a declining trend line! So when you pass level 2, don’t think that level 3 will be a breeze. Is level 3 passable? Definitely, what makes it difficult is that it is a completely different beast since you have to write rather than circle an answer. If you can master the essay portion of the level 3 exam, you will do well. Good news is that there are a lot of resources to help you study the morning portion and there are some key question types that pretty much show up every year. The rest will be for next year when you all pass level 2  I took it one step and one day at a time and made it through the program. Just concentrate on your own skills and try to improve yourself to the fullest, don’t worry what others are doing - give it your 10000% because anything less will mean another year of doing all this again.

Wait, who failed L3 5-8 times? At that point, you have to ask if they should be doing something else.

So there is no reason to get discouraged. It’s doable!!! Look man, you shouldn’t waste time worrying about L3 when you have L2 ahead. Believe me, L2 is a beast and this is the level that separates the boys from the champions. Focus on the mission at hand.

Why you guys care so much about how others are doing? Clear your own stuff and do not laugh at someone who is keen on realizing their own dreams. I am from Level III and I passed all levels of exams. I have seen many opinions about the exam already and why this bothers you so much?Everyone knows this is subjective exam and shouldn’t judge one’s ability by just looking at exam. Failing 6 or 8 times doesn’t mean necessarily this guy is not smart - maybe he just doesn’t pay enough attention or he just doesn’t have enought time to study.

procrastinators…

The cirriculum, feels easier. But there is very little structure as to what to expect from the exam. Put it this way, out of 10 ppl that is on this thread taking L2 (excluding those that passed L3), 1.6 will pass (so less then 2 of you). If you think you’re going to be that 1.6, all the power. But just worry and focus on L2, as that is definitely a challenge no less.

Have you considered the fact that the pass rate on AF may be higher than general pass rate? Being on the forums is enough motivation and based on the number of posts, I will make a conservative estimate that less than 20% of CFA candidates know about AF.

how is it that 1.6 out of 10 will pass when it was 39% pass rate? wouldnt that mean 3.9 of 10 on here will pass? just a thought

CFAcountry Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > how is it that 1.6 out of 10 will pass when it was > 39% pass rate? wouldnt that mean 3.9 of 10 on here > will pass? just a thought 3.9 * 41% passrate for LIII = 1.6
