Let’s be honest here. Federer has been in semi retirement since the summer of 2016. He’s become a part time worker. He was injured for 6 months before returning to win the AO after being shutout for over 4 years. Kudos.
He then pulled a dirty stunt. He skipped the entire clay season and decided to skip a MAJOR (French Open) while he was HEALTHY (clever on his part to save himself the embarrassment). It’s as if a HEALTHY Lebron James decided not to even travel to Golden State during the playoffs because he knew the team would lose and waited for the series to get back to Cleveland to play again.
Or let’s put it in words that the AF crowd can understand. Imagine if the legendary Jason Witten (GOAT?) refused to play against the Baltimore D back in the day because he knew he would have a bad game. Imagine if he preferred to spend his Sunday afternoon at Chuck E. Cheese with his kids instead of looking at Rey Lewis in the face on the gridiron.
Of course he won Wimbledon. A 50 year old Pete Sampras could have beaten the field. There should be an asterisk to that Wimbledon title. All his major competitors (Nadal, Joker, Murray, Raonic) were either seriously banged up or injured. Unlike Federer, they actually play full time on the tour.
It’s shameful for a GOAT to act like a coward. Lose like a man and show up on clay. He was freakin healthy and that is a blemish on his legacy.
After the AO, I had Federer 4 points in front of Nadal in the GOAT standings. -1 to Federer for being a pu$$y and +1 to Nadal for winning the US Open. He is now 2 points ahead of Nadal. If Federer pulls the same cheap stunt again next year, he loses 2 points on the spot for being a repeat offender.

Fed will take him out, Chung is good but he still makes some youthful errors. The surprise for me was Edmund, completely lost his swing in the 2nd set only to rally back and win it. I went to bed after the 2nd and thought I was watching a dead man walking.
