If I leave finance will I lose the charter?

Hi Everyone,

If I am awarded the charter, and then if I subsequently leave the finance industry but continue to pay dues and whatever else is necessary under normal circumstances to keep the charter, will I be able to keep my charter? Or do I have to be employed in the industry similar to a series 7?

As long as you pay your dues and complete your professional conduct statement each year, you remain an active charterholder.

If you stop paying dues and completing your PCS, you become an inactive member. You can return to active status by paying a reinstatement fee and dues, and completing a PCS.

you won’t. Even accountants have the CFA

Thanks guys

My pleasure.

you will keep your charter as long as you pay your dues. I am in ops at a fund. I was never in finance in my life.

Well if you get yourself into nursing, why would you worry about keeping the charter anyway?

^so u can use it on ur resume, linkedin, business card, ashley madison, etc

Now that you mention it, CFA Charterholders are 20-30% more likely than “the average Joe on the block” to hook up on Ashley Madison*.
