(retaker, who failed miserably last year. around 15th percentile)
CFAI AM MC: 43/60
CFAI PM MC: 44/60
4 Schweser Essays in order: 104, 104, 105 and 112 out of 180. I sent them to @s2000magician and he gave me back scores significantly higher than those. his service is one that i would highly recommend to any future level 3 candidates
4 schweser MCs, in order: 47, 52, 52 and 41 out of 60. Hope to G-d the 68% was the outlier…
2010: 78/118 (these old exams i only took the relevant points per IFT)
2011: 105/139
2012: 84/136
2013: 80/123
2014: 82/133
2015: 94/129 (this one was weirdly plug and chug i thought, will gameday be this straightforward?)
2016: 88/151 (s2000 gave me 116/151 because i was SUPER harsh on myself on the qualitative questions)
2017: 89/146 (s2000 gave me 113/146, again I am being too harsh on myself)
2018: 122/180 (this one felt good, seeing as how i bombed it last year)
total OLD EXAM score of 822/1255 which is 65.5%
the point of this post isnt to brag. at all. i know how the other side of this coin feels. it was me last year. the point I wanna make is this exam is so ridiculously difficult and the questions make you so uncomfortable (yes, even the MC at times…currencies anyone?) that even if youre scoring high on mocks you still feel like garbage.
I can honestly say that I dont know for certain that I will pass. and thats why this is the charter. Good luck to all!
Good scores I think, I’m very similar. And I totally agree, decent scores on practice feel like they mean nothing right now. It’s hard for a reason, right. We just need to give the best account of ourselves we can.
Tommy, I think you are going to pass with such scores, assuming you performed them in exam like setting. The real risky variable is in the essays. Mocks are much harder than actual exam, at least so was the case for L1 and L2.
There is no point in dwelling now about it. But if i were to bet, I would bet that you will pass.
No, I think people are just resetting/retaking the questions over and over again and bringing the averages up. I don’t suggest giving the percentile rank much thought, just look at how you are doing in absolute terms.
That is still relevant material if we’re talking about the same thing. In vol 2 of the CFA material, reading 11, section 3.3 discusses it with blue box example at the end.
