Have we got great timing or what? Right when you pass the test that gets you the spiffy letters, the finance industry goes completely ape doodoo.
well, at least you passed. There is always endowments and hedfe fund performance analyst companies that need people…
^Or there’s AF, where you can spam the message board with links to CNBC and reuters while pretending to be the most connected guy on the street…
ouch
CFA is about asset management. Despite the crisis, people still are going to need good asset managers. The bad part is that some people may be wiped out virtually 100%, so there won’t be quite as many people needing those services. More seriously, there are a whole bunch of people who used to do IB who may start looking for asset management jobs because IB isn’t terribly viable in the short term and maybe not as attractive in the long term. Having a CFA right now (or passing L3) is probably a good thing to have for PM related work, although IB is probably good for valuation related stuff.
