I know that this is a CFA forum, but I hope that some of you may have done the IMC also. I just would like to know how you went about studying for the IMC unit 1. I have already passed my CFA Level 1 and I thought to also complete the IMC Unit 1 as I heard it was ‘significantly’ easier. However, having read thourgh the BPP Imc Unit 1 study text, I find it impossible to even retain a small portion. The majority of the text is regulations… a lot of regulations. I was just wondering if those who have previously sat the IMC Unit 1 actually went over the study text or jumped straight to the Q&A and learnt from there? Any tips will be hugely appreciated!!!
Seriously, the IMC is a piece of pi55 compared to level 1. I did unit 1 after i found out i passed Level 1, just spent a couple of days and evenings in the library and bashed through it with ease. Reckon I spent a total of 20-30 hours on it (couple of years back, can’t recall exactly), which was way more than necessary - but wasn’t going to fail over a couple of hours seeing as it’s so small compared to the CFA itself. Some of it is a case of regurgitation rules and regs etc, but the fact you’ve passed lv 1 means you should be fine. Just get on with it, and realise it’s a couple of weeks work MAX as opposed to the onslaught of the CFA.
