In DC this week...

hit up good guys and camelot Northern CFA

DC is a great city to visit, but I did get a bit bored when I lived there. I found myself missing New York immensely (and eventually moved back). It’s better than many places, though. I think places like London and New York (and São Paulo and Shanghai) are bit like taking coke - you get so habituated to the density of stuff that you finally can’t function without that constant stimulation. “Not that there’s anything wrong with that…” DC is a pretty good metro area to raise a family, though… enough cultural stuff to keep you busy and your kids engaged and connected to the world, but small enough that your kids can grow up with a dog and a yard. Old Ebbitt’s Grille is supposed to be a classic hangout for the top of the wonk crowd. It’s right next to the Treasury building, so you can grab yourself some benjis when you’re passing by and give your regards to Timmay!

I agree with everything that BChadwick says above having lived in both NY and DC for extended periods of time. The family bit is very true with excellent educational systems in neighboring suburbs of Fairfax and Alexandria.

Looking for a great place to snag a burger with co-workers (mostly female so no SUPER dives)…

Try some ethnic food ray’s hell burger in arlington (court house area) is good but they don’t serve cheese poppers anymore :frowning: also never been there but got good feedback for burger joint @ dupont circle. you can eat there and walk across the street to gazuza lounge to have a drink and smoke hookah. there are many clubs bars in the area if you are looking for some fun…u can also try ben’s chili bowl on U St…

err…the White House?

Rocket Bar is not too far from where you are, it’s a pretty nice dive to catch a game. There’s also a place with 3 letters, forgot what it was called but it’s right by the arena.

I prefer Rocket Queen

NYCGorilla Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Northern CFA, how was the hamburgler joint in DC? Ended up going on a self created bar crawl so the burger joint was passed on. Although I will be back mid-Jan. Looking forward to it. Def seeing the caps play.

He should have at least gone to Camelot. How can one leave DC without seeing Camelot and grab a Maoz falafel on the way is beyond me.
