Any places I must go to or eat at? Keep in mind, its for work and I wont have a car…
eat some Ethiopian food kiddo in Adams Morgan, hit up 1789 or Filleminos in Gtown, and go to the Four Seasons Hotel on Friday night
if Ethiopian food in DC is anything like Ethiopian food in LA, and we have little Ethiopia so it must be legit, you’re better off at taco bell
Ethiopian food in DC is the best in the US, hands down. The community is huge in the DC metro area with over 300 restaurants. For the Ethiopian experience and to enjoy probably the favorite Ethiopian restaurant among non-Ethiopians, check out Dukem on U Street and 11th.
i guess its an acquired taste. that sour bread just doesnt cut it for me
Not my cup of tea either… Appreciate the input
what do you want to do? I can throw out other ideas, just give me some feedback. Where will you be staying? Do you want to hit up the bar scene, sightseeing, music venues?
Will be right next to the verizon center. Looking for cool bars/brewery, sights, etc…
restaurants-Rashika best Indian food in DC, it is on D street close to you. you should also take the metro to Foggy Bottom and check out some restaurants and bars in Georgetown just walk along M street and you will find tons of small college-type bars and restaurants, best restaurant is Fillimena in that area. You could also go to Dupont Circle(red line) and there are several good restaurants and bars in that area bars-check out Mr. Smiths in G-Town for a college scene, if you want a sheek bar with an older crowd check out Four Seasons on M street as well(only happening on weekend). There are a couple of Irish bars in Chinatown where you will be along with the bar/restaurant Clydes(decent places). 18th street lounge in Dupont Circle(it is a pretty cool place for a lounge scene). sightseeing-go to the waterfront in Gtown, again ask around on M-street and someone will direct you there, it is running parallel to that street If you have time, Kennedy Center, Blues Alley, or Smithsoninian museums
^^be careful which bars you hit up in dupont circle… me and a buddy wandered into one after we had just moved to the dc area. Lets just say I was sweet eye candy for the patrons. Not that theres anything wrong with that.
Appreciate it. I am def going to try and make a trip to G’town. Everyone seems to rave about it.
Georgetown sucks…go to U Street, Dupont Circle, H Street instead to meet some real people. Also don’t come back without visiting the worlds largest museum co mplex - the Smithsonian. Where else in the world can you see the best museums for free? I would also suggest the White House, The Washington Monument, Arlington Cemetery, Lincoln Memorial amongst others. Also I second Rasika being a great Indian restaurant but you will need to reserve well in advance or sit on couches and eat.

Where are the > other places in reference to that? Make sure you go to the National Gallery of Art and the Museum of Natural History at least. The air and space museum on the complex is blah…the real deal is the one in Virginia. Also check out the spy museum, the newseum (its a brand new museum dedicated to news and current events - its not free though) and the building museum. You can also check out the Chinatown area, it has a lot of cool restaurants, theatres and bars. If you are jewish I would recommend a visit to the Holcaust museum - warning its pretty somber and depressing though. Its unusually windy and chilly these days so I wouldn’t walk outside too much.
See the Jefferson Memorial
There is basically nothing in Chinatown except the National Gallery of Art. Go to Gtown just to say you’ve been there, not saying it is the most amazing place but if you go to DC you should check it out. Venture to U Street then cubsfish’s experience is very likely to happen. If you wanna kill several birds with one stone, take the blue or orange to Smithsonian and then walk to the Lincoln Memorial and side by side are the Vietnam and Korean memorials. There is also a WWII memorial but it is a hike from that area. I only second the Holocaust memorial that Phoenix recommended but it will be easier to get to by cab.
but DC is pretty boring after 3 days honestly.
