Influenza A(H1N1)

Well it has officially hit Ireland - 270 have it and my company has gone insane Apparently if you cough/sniff your manager has to contact HR and since I’ve been experiencing “flu like sympthoms” for the past while I have to report it :frowning: How are you supposed to know whether its just a normal flu or not!..can people not get a bit of perspective!

knackerette!

Panic is contagious Karen, so if you sneeze - and it doesn’t matter if everyone knows that you have hayfever - people will start to avoid you and those folks close to you will seriously ask questions like if you had contact with pigs, swines or Mexicans lately (think of a good answer!). My company has a huge stash of Tamiflu for us, so no need to worry for me. It’s a left over from the days when bird-flu was more en vogue. Crazy…

Hahahaahah a BUCKET of cleaning products and washing-up glove things have been put at the end of each row of cubicles…it looks ridiculous! And some moron put up a poster for swine flu over my desk Revenge is going to be fun for that one!

What a pig… Go, sneeze at him!

KarenC I hope I didn’t catch anything from you after our steamy make out session on the weekend.

ahem…yeah why does no one believe you

^ too far - bold boy!! I’ve put that horrible gel on my hand and used the wipes on the desk and spend all day staring at posters of what to do if a. you have it b. someone else has it c. you think you might have it d. you think you might get it etc etc… when is this going to end - I’m bored of it already!!

i think you’ll know whether you have swine flu or not. my episode felt like little demons were under my skin constantly beating on my muscles with poop on a stick. i.e. i couldn’t move because my muscles were liquid plus i had a fever of 103, hot blooded! plus horrible congestion. i had never been sick in the summer in my life so it was easy to notice. plus you have to remember that the normal flu is incredibly rare at this time of year, so there’s a good chance its the swiney.

Well I’m used to hayfever but I’m constantly exhausted and one day I got sent home as I couldnt even find the energy to left the handset!..crap!

Must be the lack of nutrition from the potato diet you’re own. I always thought it was a stereotype but Blake’s FNAAG post proved it.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Brianr DO NOT follow blakey’s little comments!!

Went to a new Lung-doc with my Astma today… She (actually quite pretty! Tall, blond, slim, around 30 … ) also recommended a flu shot. I am gonna get the vaccine in a few weeks and I am sure it’s also gonna protect me from the swine-flu. Flu is flu, after all, isn’t it?

Flu is > flu, after all, isn’t it? No, seasonal flu shot does not protect from swine flu. For a flu shot to be effective, it has to be designed to immunize against a specific strain. Seasonal flu shot contains 3 strains that were forecasted to be active this winter - and it was designed more than a year ago. You will have to wait until October to get a series of swine flu shots ( 2 shots 21 days apart). In the meantime, you would have to get Tamiflu within 48 hours of start of flu sympotms.

Thanks Bernie. I wasn’t really serious with my “flu x = flu y” remark. And while I do not take any pandemic lightly that has made it basically to my front door, I still refuse to join into the panic the media and some of my mentally challenged colleagues are trying to create. Even if the piggy-flu gets me and wrestles me poor Asthma-boy down to my grave, I will try to take it with a sense of humor.

There is now a bucket of wipes placed beside my desk if people come near me - this is RIDICULOUS I only have a cold because I got utterly drenched at U2 on saturday…grrrrrr…

Better than having a bucket of c0nd0ms placed beside your desk, that would be really saying something.
