Institutional equity sales

Would a CFA be useful in institutional equity sales, and would it qualify as required work experience for the designation. The job the I am applying for is in sales for an independent research firm (no i-banking), and my role would be the sales guy tht acts as the go-between for buyside funds and the firms research. Any thoughts on the jobs would helpful also. Thanks.

undoubtedly extremely useful… sales guys who understand what they are pitching are appreciated both by research staff and clients. only question is whether it is overkill or not (worth the effort).

Most of sales people that we deal with are CFAs. I know, but I think I am trying to coin CFA as a noun.
