Interview Follow Up Etiquette

Does anyone have insights on follow up interview etiquette? I followed up right after the interview with a mailed thank you note. They mentioned they would have the posting available for 3 weeks. When and how should I follow up?

Did you ask for their timeline during the interview (probably when you were given a chance to ask questions)? If yes then I would wait until then, otherwise wait for a few more days (about a week) and email them ‘I will appreciate if you can let me know your timeline for the hiring decision’…something like that.

If they reamed you and you’re sure you’re not getting the job… send them a fish wrapped in a newspaper. Do it by priority mail.
