Interview "We still have to interview other candidates"

We have no objections in regards to your abilites to perform in this role. You are qualified in terms of education and experience. My question is, then why not give me an offer instead of having to interview other people???

Maybe they find someone as good but cheaper

“We have no objections in regards to your abilites to perform in this role. You are qualified in terms of education and experience. … we’re just not sure if we want to hire a$$hole for the position”

realistically, it means, your chances has halved. Too many candidates, companies in no hurry, this is going to be the central theme of many interviews till market improves.

Sometimes HR at big corporations make the hiring manager interview a certain amount of people to promote good diversity. That and to cover their a$$es if there ever was a lawsuit.

IH8FSA, Tell me about a time where you went through a process and were dissatsifed with the result. And how did you deal with that situation? Sincerely, Every worthless HR employee

Myself, I just finished interviewing with a small buy-side shop. They gave me the same line about needing to interview others. Ends up, they went with someone else, link Mo said, as good but cheeper. There’s a flood of qualified people out looking right now, even here on the left coast. Wages are going to be the biggest determining factor, IMHO.

Look at the other side of it. If you had an interview scheduled and they called you up and said “hey, we interviewed someone this morning who was good enought to make an offer to, so we’re not going to bother seeing you”, how would you feel?

What really disgust me is when HR people don’t respond to follow-ups. It takes 5 seconds to write back “Thx, got your email. We’ll let you know…” or a simple “No”

I’m not sure why a company would ever hire without having done several interviews for the position, even if the first interviewee is qualified. Frankly if they’ve brought you in you’re probably qualified- you can judge that pretty well by a resume. In the interview they’re looking more for fit.

thanks for your responses. seems like I have to wait it out I guess. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- nerdattax (IP Logged) [hide posts from this user] Date: April 24, 2008 02:43PM IH8FSA, Tell me about a time where you went through a process and were dissatsifed with the result. You forgot about “name me your weaknesses/ and areas you feel that you can improve in” “My weakness is not being able to control the motion of the back of my hand when i’m asked useless questions from someone who majored in HR”
