Investment Consulting vs Financial Services Consulting

Hey all a little help here.

I currently work for an investment consulting firm doing the usual performance reporting, hedge fund manager due diligences, asset class modelling. I have 1.5 yrs experience + an internship at my shop. I may have the opportunity to switch to a consulting firm that consults only to financial services company. I was wondering if this is a good transition to make?

The financial service consulting firm is Capco that I had in mind. http://www.capco.com/services

My ultimate goal is buyside investment management or equity research sell side. Would this improve my odds for my final career goal?

You would be making a downgrade from your current role. Have you researched into the consulting firm?

What you will be doing is completely irrelevant to buyside IM or sellside ER.
