I’m trying to determine what percentage of IPO filings went public in 2009. I can find information on IPOs in 2009 but the data is hard to find regarding how many filings actually took place. In particular I’m looking for data on IPOs under $500M but any data would be helpful at this point. Thanks.
Capital IQ should give you all the information you need. I don’t normally have time to help with this but since I’m leaving for vacation tomorrow, I had a chance to run a search while eating some homemade ravioli. Yum… According to Capital IQ, there were 2,764 IPO’s filed in the United States this year. 2,060 of them had gross equity value of $500 million or less. So, that means 75% of IPO’s filed in 2009 were $500 million or less. Of the 2,764 IPO’s filed in the United States in 2009, 2,281 of them (83%) also closed this year. Hope that helps.
