Is 72% in mocks good? What is the expected minimum passing percentage?

Dear All This is my first posting on this forum. I’m currently enrolled for Level- 2 this June (2009). I would really appreciate if someone could throw some light on the minimum expected passing percentage for Level 2 exam. I’ve practiced few exams on the Schweser software and have also given the mock test from Book - 6 and from CFA website. My average score is around 72%. I still have to attempt Book - 7. Please let me know what chances do I stand to pass this time and is 72% good enough? Please note that this is my first attempt for Level 2. I passed Level 1 in last December (2008). Thanks

dick waving thread

I think you stand, on average, a 72% chance of passing.

I like the phrase “dick waving”. But that certainly are not my intentions.

I got a 100% on the mock… twice… and I was drunk.

I think it’s good enough if you can consistently score over 70% on mocks. What you could do now for the remaining two weeks, is just focus on the sections that you are weak at and keep hammering them with problem solving.

You def have a chance. Your about 4-6 questions away from a fail level 10 band. Plus CFAI always throw in a tricky item set out of the blue… treynor black in 07 and BOP in 08 so expect the real exam to be about 5-10% harder then the mock. I think you need a low 80s get pass.

If you’re consistently above 70, you will pass. The CFAI Mock exams are a much better indication than Schweser though. I would advise taking all CFAI Mocks, as they are much the same as the real deal. The trick for L2 is knowing all the minor stuff as well as the major topics. On the real exam, the test is a mix of major / minor topics. They structure the exam this way to separate those who know the entire curriculum from those who only mastered the major topic areas. BiPolar touched on this above. Some of the questions you will literally think must have come from footnotes in the CFAI curriculum because you will have never seen the stuff before.
