Is Century font ok for resumes?

I just sent over a resume to a friend who said she couldn’t read it. it came out mumbo jumbo. The font is called Century. It works on my comp and my work comp.

LOL, why would you want to submit a resume with a font that someone can’t read?

what’s a good font then? i have to re-format everything! i thought this century font was standard. i’m reading a resume book and it says that finance resumes should use a font like century…

Don’t know, I was making a wiseguy comment…taking a break from reading the 47 recommendations of the Counterparty Risk Management Policy Group II.

Just play it safe and use Roman or Arial. If you already have a couple of job offers then try using Wingdings and see what happens…

Go with wingdings, LOL. No, seriously go with Arial, New Time Roman, or if you have to be different, go with Verdana.

I really liked the look of Arial Narrow I saw on somebody’s resume once. Also, you should consider doing your resumes in PDF to avoid these types of problems.

^^+1. PDF is the way to go. If you don’t have acrobat or Word 2007, OpenOffice will produce PDFs directly.

dont be silly, use a true type font or go pdf like suggested

Verdana looks good, I find it more easily readable than arial or roman.

Garamond…only way to go.

pdf is the way to go unless sending to a headhunter because they will always ask you to resend in word format (to remove your name etc.)

I used to use garamond. I guess I’ll go back. And yes, I do have a pdf, but as others have mentioned headhunters want word docs.

I’d def do the standard times new roman. the risk/return for getting fancy does not work out

Roman or Arial Narrow.

I thot those fancy fonts are to be avoided. Garamond looks like an advertisement of a local lawyer

i’m gonna find a standard font this weekend and re-format everything. i’ll try a couple like times new roman and arial narrow.

“I thot those fancy fonts are to be avoided. Garamond looks like an advertisement of a local lawyer” get the hel! outta here…my father’s a local lawyer…he would never use Garamond.

I read an article a while back that said Georgia font was the easiest to read.
